Monitoring with headphones

Postby Taqtix on 25 Oct 2007, 19:51

Hello everyone,

I have mixvibes DVS and a u46mk2 soundcard. I control the internal mixer with my MIDI controller and was wondering if there was a way i can listen to deck A with the left side of my headphones and deck B with the right side?

too bad i couldn't just plug the headphones straight to the headphone jack. it seems the only way it will work is if you plug the headphones to the back. realized the channel doesn't matter. i have 1/2 as my master 3/4 as my monitor and my headphones are plugged in 3/4. this is a good alternative. Thank you very much for the support.

I agree would have been nicer that way. It was designed with a DJ mixer in mind, but this is a good way to go around the problem if you want t play with a laptop only :good:

Sorry to reopen this, but I am in the market for a new soundcard and want to get this straight. U46MK2 is on top of my short list because of my frequent use of MixVibes.

It's rather difficult to understand that other post. Is it saying that the headphone jack on the front is linked to channels 1&2 on the back?

Or to put it another way:

5&6 RCA jacks on the back are being used as stereo master output
1&2 are for monitor (in the ASIO settings, I assume?) that happen to be the same output as the front headphone jack.

Is this correct?

nope.

the front output allows you to monitor the master output.
1/2 allows you to monitor a single player - s you can listen to the track that is not playing in your sound system.

This methd of connection allows you to hear both through your headphones as if you were using a mixer.

Thanks for the explanation. Guess I'll scratch this off my short list then - I just want to use the buttons on my VCI100 to monitor the decks instead of using the board mixer.

Doesn't really make sense to me why this would be built in this manner. Doesn't the separate mix output on the back do the same exact thing?

When I receive the VCI-100 I'll test this with MixVibes. I'll tested this solution with VCI-100 and Traktor :sorry: and got it to work with the cue buttons on the VCI and Headphone connected to the front of the U46
