U46MKII and vista don't work (asio???)

Hi all,

so I bought a samsung laptop with vista. I installed the u46dj then mixvibes. THERE WAS NO ASIO installed btw. Then i updated mixvibes to 6.38 and updated the u46mkII. Then I started mixvibes the first time and the "auto-installation" began but I only got an error warning when I wanted to select at step 3 (or 4) the u46mkII. So I aborted and wanted to choose the u46mkII in the options menu but i can't choose "asio". Do I need to install an asio driver now, I thought theres already the right driver on the update 6.38???? Also the media player makes no sound when the u46mkII is turned on.

Sorry I have no www at home so I can't send a config report but any tips are appreciated!

As i know under Vista the best driver for the U46DJ is ASIO4ALL.

OK the driver asio4all beta 2 works. But I have to choose in the asio-setup the um46k2 as soundcard and then in mixvibes I have to select the asio4all not the u46mk2... But then I can configure it.

One day later nothing worked anymore... I had to reconfigure everything, timecode wasn't recognized and when playing in relative it pauses every 3 secs.

Any Ideas? Will try it today again and post tomorrow. BTW would you recommend to copy my mp3 to the laptop hdd (partition?) or should i better use the extern hdd?

Forget about u46MK2 drivers, uninstall them.
Try to use only asio4all drivers.
Define your setup in the asio4all panel.

I think I found the problem: The asio4all always sets resampling 44,1 -> 48,0 kHz and an input and output latency compensation every time I start my laptop... when setting the asio-settings new then it works with 256 samples. I'll try to reduce the latency now, I'll post you next week.

BTW: When uninstalling the u46mk2-drivers then I can't configure the u46 so better don't unisntall.

Yes, now i drive with 128 samples and it works perfect on my home setup (Vestax pdx2000 and shure scratch needles).

(Got to update to the latest version, because config report doesn't work yet.)

But I still have the problem that it doesn't work right when i connect my laptop and u46mkii to technics with ortofon needles. like i told in another thread once in a club i needed 30 mins to configurate mv and then it worked only with a 1 or 2 sec latency although it was set to 256 samples (?###??).

Could the mighty programmer implement maybe user presets for the next update????? That i can configurate once and for ever my mv for technics and Vestax!

right i remember that. every time you chnage needles, ttables, mixer or anything you need to calibrate for an optimal signal tracking. I don't think it would be a good idea to suggest to DJs that some hardware presets could be applied. however a default "home config" preset would be useful indeed. I'll push the idea towards the developpers but they are already stuck with the MAC development.

Its well worth taking 2 minutes to go through the install wizard and make sure you are in optimal configuration for your gig
