How to Differentiate New and Old version of U46DJ USB soundc

Postby wchoong on 04 Jun 2007, 12:27

Hi guys,
I'm a soon to be MixVibes Pro user and I was suppose to get the MixVibes U46MK2 sounds but there are none in Australia.
They only have the normal ESI U46DJ sound card.
I read through the whole forum about ESI U46DJ and I found out that there are few old and new version on the same soundcard.

Old Version , you can't update to certain driver.
Newer Version, obviously you can update to the latest driver and also 3rd party driver .

My question is how do you identify whether the sound card is the newer or older version? Product Serial? Please fill me with all the info I can get as I'm getting it in the next couple of day.

mixvibes pro and U46DJ? personally i see it as a waste for pro to work with U46DJ. I would suggest echo audiofire8, edirol fa-101, NI audiodj 8, or the xxxx(i forgot how to spell it) 16/12w,

but for your question, you can see it from the firmwire version, if its 1.xxxx, then its the old one. if its 2.xxx, then its the new old. am i bullshitting? yes i am, if you dont purchase the product, how can you install it and check the firmwire. LOL, :dancing: :dancing:

If you are referring "waste" as in I can't connect more than 2 turntables ..... then it's fine... not planning to connect more than 2TT for now or near future.
Just thinking of Pro to try out the Video scratching function. :)
I did some search on all those sound card you suggested and seems that they are pretty pricey and also they are Firewire.

I guess this will be abit of a gamble with the U46DJ soundcard when i'm buying. wish me luck

the NI-AUDIO8 is a USB2.0 8X8 soundcard. the rest, yes, they are a bit pricey, but i would highly recommend echo audiofire8 to you. kickass sound, and very stable

MixVibes pro is a very unique powerful tool for djs. if you have only 4x4, it will be nearly impossible to use its fantastic sampler. and also it will help djs to be more creative with 3 or 4 turntables.

I like Carl Cox, he uses 3 TTs. :good:

hi willa,
I got locked out of my own topic when UncleVibes moved this topic.now that I'm registered, i can post again.
anyway,I already bought the U46DJ ,not that I ignore your advice just that it's budget wise.

Furthermore, I'm just learning to be a DJ ..... can't call myself a DJ yet ... so working 3 or 4 Turntable... not anytime soon
I can't even control 2 properly.
