There a different threads in this forum in which users decribe their problems with Intel Core i-processors and USB 1.1 audio interface. Just have a look at the sticky threads in the "technical support" forum.
It might be helpful to test with a USB 2.0 audio interface like Hercules DJ Trim 4&6 or the Native Instruments Audio series.
