Hello everyone

I have a Vestax VCI-100 MIxvibes Edition than used to run Mixvibes 3DEX on XP. I haven't used this for a while and want to start using it again, how ever, I have recently bought a new laptop that runs windows 7.

I can use a virtual PC to install XP and run it from there but don't really want this to be a permanent fix.

Could someone advise if there is a free upgrade to a package that will run on windows 7 with my VCI-100? If not is there a package I can purchase that will work with my VCI-100?

Also I no longer have the VCI-100 MIDI maps as these were on my XP machine that was stolen, but they no longer seem to be on the Vestax website, can I get the maps from elsewhere or has this kit just passed its sell buy date?

I really enjoyed using the VCI when I was so would really like to continue using it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this matter.

Usually you can install 3DEX in Windows 7, just be aware of using Win 7 drivers for your audio interface.

I must be unusual then, lol. It installs fine but will not run, when I click on the icon it comes up with the usual activation pop-up, I press activate on-line and it comes back with activation successful, then thats it, when I close the activation successful window in XP the software fires up, when I close it in windows 7 nothing happens, when I click the icon again it starts the whole process of activating again. i.e. the option to activate over the internet or manually, if I press internet again it activates and comes back with the same activation pop-up but I can not get any further than this.

Any further advice?

One more thing, Steve mentions that I will need the correct windows 7 drivers for my VCI-100, where would I start looking for these, the Vestax site?

I don't remember that you need drivers. It use normal audio MIDI from microsoft included in your windows7.
Cross DJ (special upgrade price on the webshop) does a perfect updated job and the price is low.

Right, so will my version of Mixvibes work on Windows 7? If so, how do I get passed the loop that is the activation pop-ups?

I mean no offence to anyone on here but saying it works is great and gives me hope, but without any advice as to how to get it working is pointless!

So one says I need Windows 7 drivers the other doesn't, this is hugely conflicting!!!

I don't really want to pay for an upgrade as I have paid good money for this version, Steve says it should work on Windows and i'v hardly used it!!!

So at this moment in time I am still stuck as I was in the original post.

Follow my advises I have a VCI100.

Well we have done different versions of 3dex & it's hard to remember what needed an update except what follow.
3DEX with VCI100 wasn't an LE version but the same version than DVS without time coded vinyl or Cd.
So no special drivers MIDI are needed.
You need the proper MIDI file for VCI100 here one included. Put them in the MIDI folder of Mixvibes 3DEX & define in the options which file you use. -YOU NEED TO DO THIS SETUP TO MAKE IT WORK-

Your registration prob are due to the UAC of Vista or Windows7. Go to your windows user configuration setup & unplug the User Control system which oblige you to register again & again. Do your activation and when it's done you can put it back.
This control is born with Vista & bring you all these stupid messages are you sure you want to do that are you really sure & so on. No risks to stop it.

Just a short addition from my side: I said you might need Win 7 drivers for your audio interface not for the VCI!

of course as there is no audio interface included with the VCI100 but your local audio device must be already setup with windows 7.
With 3DEX you can aggregate 2 or more sound cards as in DVS to get phone outputs to prepare your mix.

I need to get the software running before I do this, or, can i find my installation, e.g: c:/mixvibes, and drop the MIDI file straight in there, or is this what I need to do in order to get the software running?

Wow, not sure what the above means but I shall do a little research and see what I can find out! Do I need to do this UAC thing to get the software running?

Sorry if the questions seem silly but with XP I put the disc in, plugged the VCI in, dropped in a MIDI file and off I went, so not used to having to turn things off etc!!
