Just getting started

I'm a complete beginner at all this. I bought the Numark iDJ3 and I"m trying to use the Cross LE. What do I need to do so I can use my external controller instead of the keyboards. I'm not quite sure how to do this.

First of all you should register your software in here. Afterwards how about plugging your controller into your computer? Does it work then? If not then please try to work with the software by controlling it with your mouse.
It is a bundle consisting of hard- and software. If the software works, but the controller does not, then you should contact the Numark support.

Cheers,

Steve

It is plugged in. I"m just not sure what settings I should have for everything. CD or Vinyl? What audio settings? Everything...

In the preferences check the MIDI tab and have a look at it if the Numark is activated and set up as a MIDI controller.

For sound it is up to your hardware. Which audio interface(s) are you using? If you want to cue tracks you need at least tw outputs. If you only have one audio interface with one output you can get another one and aggregate it with ASIO4ALL to one interface which you can assign in Cross afterwards.

I hope that this is a quick guide you can start playing with.

Cheers,

Steve

I can get sound to go through my iDJ3, and I can use the master volume knob to control the volume going to my speakers. Now I can't assign the left or right track to Player A or B. This makes no sense to me...any ideas?

Hey,

is the 14bit MIDI enabled? If so please disable it and test your left or right deck.

Otherwise create a copy of the original MIDI file at Cross DJ and look into the mapping maybe it is corrupt or wrong mapped.

But first please check if the 14bit MIDI is enabled.

Christian

The 14 bit button was disabled like you said. Just a couple questions:

Do I need to have headphones plugged in for it to work?

On the audio routing mode, do I put it on external mixer or dual?

On Numark's website, they have a link so I can download the driver. I'm assuming I need this, but it won't let me do it. Am I right in saying that i must download the driver first?

hey,

to my knowlege you need the driver for the idj otherwise the asio and also the MIDI will not work with the controler.

Jrichey9 wrote:On the audio routing mode, do I put it on external mixer or dual?

depends on what you want to do. External mixer is when you want to use an external mixer so you will have two audio outputs and you can mix them at the local mixer. Dual audio is for example when you want one master out and an cue output (like for your headphone).

Normaly not but if they are USB headphones and calibrated at Cross DJ then you should have plugged them into the system before you start your Cross DJ.

Ok. Well when I attempt to install the driver, it says there is a "time out error." I'm guessing this would be a problem with the controller itself....unless someone knows anything else to try.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.
