Cross vs DVS

Postby Faizel M on 02 Aug 2011, 09:10

Hi Everyone,

Can anybody assist. I'm running Cross 1.6 with Timecoded CDS and Novation Dicers. The program is stable and all but I get irritated when the mode constantly changes from Absolute to Relative when I use the Dicers. :frown:

Firstly - Is DVS more stable with reference to mode switching in comparison to Cross?

Secondly - Does DVS suppport Novation Dicers

Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanx

:?:
You do know it´ll jump to relative anytime you use locator or loop?!?
That´s the nature of a DVS -> same in DVS7.

Thanx j-kut.

Will it still jump if you use a different MIDI controller such as the Denon HC1000S?

Shure,

frankly speaking I think you missed the point of relative/absolute.

absolute: everything from the timecode is used (speed, direction, position)

relative: only speed and direction is used, so you can use cues, loops independently from the actual position of the timecode.

So you either set it to relative all the time and disable the automatic control-mode switching, or you use absolute with control-mode switching engaged and it´ll change anytime you set a cue/loop.

For some reason I havent notice that.

Which buttons (on the Dicers) are used to control between the modes?

I think that´s not on the mapping i uploaded...I use a different mapping which is more custom, and may not fit everybody.

But you can easily map it yourself to buttons you dont use/need.

Hi J-kut,

Just to let you know; I managed to map the Dicers to change between Absolute and Relative modes when using the Timecode CD's.
There was however conflict with the Sync and Match Mapping - so I deleted the Sync and Match Mappings in the Beatmatcher Mapp Settings.

Works great and the only time I'm touching the Laptop Keyboard, is to close the program when I'm finished. :)

Cheers
