no sound in Media Monkey and Second Life. Winamp is fine.

Hi,

I have Windows 7 and U-MIX44. U-Mix works with Traktor/Asio and Winamp. However, neither Media Monkey nor Second Life produce any sounds. Media Monkey doesn't even play the songs rather it scrolls down the list and stops. Second Life is just silent, although it sees the hardware. Btw, In Device Manager I see that U-MIX44 uses Microsoft driver even though I installed drivers downloaded from this site. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Ilya

Yes, it is good!

So, i'll try and give you a point by point answer.
Hi, i have read your message and i think you might not have installed properly the drivers. Please try and install or reinstall your drivers for the soundcard.

my guess thats not the problem. dunno why there are a few apps that dont behave normally when the U-Mix44 is plugged in. for example iTunes. no matter how i set the soundcards in my PC (i only use the U-Mix for mixvibes software, everything else is set to the internal one - so as iTunes), it doesnt play anything. all other things (flash from firefox, video playback, etc.) work fine, but iTunes just wont do a thing while its not even using the U-Mix.. strange, huh?
i simply "solved it" by plugging out the U-Mix when i dont need it, cuz i wont be playing music and watching a video (or doing anything else) at the same time anyway..

Hey,

have you tested to set the U-Mix to a default device at your sound preferences? At windows seven go at the loudspeaker at the taskbar and press second key and go Playback or something. There you can set the Device to for example the U-Mix or the internal card and so on. I tested at with my U46Mk2 which is only installed with Asio Driver and it was working.

you can also open the volumen controll panel and the first "main" entry is called DEVICE. There you can also select an other device by klicking at the drop down arrow.

if you have questions to what I mean or if you need more detailed information to that you can post here again I will answer ;)

I hope it will help you
regards
Christian

Thank you for your replies.

1. Drivers - I downloaded INSTALL U-MIX44 1.0.4.ZIP file. Installed without any issues. However, as I mentioned Windows 7 still uses Microsoft driver when I go to the properties in device manager. Not sure if how it suppose to be.

2. boc - yes, we have the same problem. The thing is I don't want to use built-in card. The whole point of paying 100$ for U-mix44 is to be able to enjoy a quality sound card in every application. :) I didn't buy it to listen to youtube videos :)

3. christiankoopmann - Thanks for your advice. I don't have any other cards on my machine - built-in card is disabled in the BIOS and I uninstalled built-in card's driver from Windows. So yes, U-Mix is a default device and it it the only sound device on the machine.

I also disabled Windows Sound scheme. It didn't help.

Side note. Second Life sees the card, I can view it in the properties. The same goes for MediaMonkey - I can see the card when I go to configure Output plug-ins. Neither one produce any sound though.

thanks, Ilya
