Does the notebook-adapter have 2 or 3 pins connecting to the poweroutlet?

Where are you, and does the static also appear when you run the notebook off the battery?

If you can, do a test and run of your laptop battery for a while. If the static disappears than I believe you have a ground loop problem.

There is a easy and cheap fix for this. All you need is to spend a few £££'s and buy a Ground loop Isolator.

There are a few different designs for the Isolator but basically they all do the same sort of thing.

I would try this first.

And how about taking the battery out of the notebook would that help you out, it might stop the ground loop noise!
