IDJ3 DVS mapping

hello again i have new MIDI problem i need help with. i'm trying to map an Numark IDJ3 to MV DVS and i can't get the jog wheels to behave properly.

when i touch them the music stop, when i move it it responds with the opposite direction i intended. clockwise moves the song backwards counter-clockwise moves the music forward. every other button seemed to map correctly.

I've checked the Cross version of the map for clues but since the mapping files operate differently i didn't find much help.

in the forums the Cross users report having to turn off the "scratch" button on the hardware, but i don't have it mapped in DVS.

can anyone assist me on this? i would like to get this up and running and any help would be awesome

Hey,

have you maped it with MIDI learn or with editing it with the manager in DVS?
You can go into the File you created and edit it there directly.

You can find the file at: (Default at Win7 when you changed it use your direction)
C:\Program Files (x86)\MixVibesDVS7\MIDI\

open the MIDI map with an editor (notepad or notepad++).

There you have something like this:
Code: Select all
#b0 13 40   JOG2    1   -1.0  100   NOCHANGE JOGPOLLING JOGTIMER
#b0 13 41   JOG2    1   1.0   100   NOCHANGE JOGPOLLING JOGTIMER

you have only to change -1 and 1 on every line than it should work like you want.

Christian

sorry that didn't really work. the problem i'm having is with the behavior of jog wheel. when i touch it the record goes a million miles an hour and won't respond when i touch the wheel again. i have to hit the cue button or stop it using the mouse pointer.

I've messed with all the options i understand and the can't figure it out. has anyone got these working in DVS correctly?

Hey,

OK can you please post me your config file? or the code where the JOG2 and also PRESSWHEEL is setted?
I can look at it and check whats maybe going wrong.

Jogs are a bit tricky in DVS. You have to set the right ticks per turn and so on. Otherwise it is running to fast over the song like you have it. Also some pads have to mapped otherwise. One jog has its own MIDI note like #36 af 62 and another has #36 af. This is important otherwise it will not work correctly.

#b0 19 1 JOG2 1 -1.000000 1000 JOGPRECISE JOGPOLLING JOGTIMER
#90 33 0 JOG2 1 1.000000 1000 JOGPRECISE JOGPOLLING JOGTIMER

hey,

have you also some lines with PRESSWHEEL?
And could you test what happens when you remove the last number from the MIDI note?
like:
superdj4life wrote:#b0 19 1

to
#b0 19 JOG2

At both lines after that save it and restart MixVibes. Test it again what happens?

Hey,

I looked detailed on your numbers and was suprised. Normaly both jogs should have the same first numbers. so the #b0 are correct and after that is the number fot the poti or jog. Numark often had the standard at their products that Jog left has #b0 19 and Jog on the right had #b0 18.

The press down is often #90 58 or #90 59.
So maybe you delete your lines where jog stands and put this in:
Code: Select all
#b0 19      JOG2      1   0   800       JOGPOLLING JOGTIMER INVERSE JOGRELEASE
#b0 18      JOG2      2   0   800       JOGPOLLING JOGTIMER INVERSE JOGRELEASE

what happens when you use this code?

Christian
