U-Mix Control Pro as a pure audio interface ?

Hey guys,

I told you I'll be back !

So here is the situation, I got a laptop and a desktop both are running ableton live, I allready have a simple audio interface which I use for both machines, I will spare you the unplug - replug nightmare, but something it me the other day  , why wouldn't I use the U-Mix Control Pro as a pure audio interface, It looks cool has lots of buttons to assign 2 ins 2 outs, my nightmare may come to an end.

So I did this, ran ableton live, used U-Mix Control Pro has my audio interface and I got 2 stereo input (1/2 and 3/4) and 2 stereo output (1/2 and 3/4) but 3/4 outputs are in fact the headphones output which is not really a problem per se.
But I'm scratching my head in here, shouldn't Ableton show me 3 stereo outputs ??? 1/2, 3/4 and headphones 5/6.
I have also no manual control of the 1/2 output level.

I know what you all think, go buy a proper audio interface you *$@#& of $@&#", but unfortunately I don't have an infinite amount of money.
Did I miss something? Am I completely dumb? Or a pure misunderstood genius? I'm not sure anymore .... ( no, this is not the question  )

Is there any way to rewire the thingy like in Cross DJ but outside Cross DJ?

Cheers

The headphonejack is NO output you can assign! ;) It is an sound output, but nothing to play with, neither in Cross nor in Ableton.

Cheers,

so (if i get your point) you need 3 different stereo outs, right?
and im asking: what for?
i mean, isnt it enough if you get your already mixed (A & B) tunes on for example the the output 1/2 and you cue them on 3/4? what would you using the extra 3rd out?

Dear boc,

I don't "need" a 3rd out, I'm just trying to understand where is this third output on live.

I'm a musician not a comuter geek, I probably lack some knowledge on DAW in general, maybe it was not the place to ask this...

So thx for your time.

Cheers

To Answer your question,

the heaphone output is not connected to the dsp (the audio-interface)
it´s a hardware output which sends the signal to your headphones according to which you choose to cue. Simply speaking there is no connegtion from the heaphones-output to the usb. ok?

hope this makes things clear.

J

Hi everyone,

Let's make it clearer..

The U-Mix Control Pro soundcard is a 2-stereo-output device.
The headphones output is just the 3/4 output with an additionnal hardware level knob. (Cue/mix is software)

Cheers,
