depends on your carts and how heavy/light-handed you are.
Do you cue-scratch or pitchride when mixing?

Alright, but what carts are you using?
The premounted stanton 500v.3 i guess, but look what it says on the cart itself.

Hey
I have the Stanton T80 and I have 2g weight.
Normaly you put the cardrige on the tone-arm and set the weight as high that the tone-arm is standing horizontal line. After that turn the weight you need. In my manuel is a weight between 2 to 3g for the standard cardrige setted.
And generell: a smaler weight get more livetime for the vinyl but the neadle can jump easier. To high weight can destroy your neadle and vinyl faster but gave you more stability on the vinyl.
When you not use the V500 than it should stand on the cover or something.

You´re right Christian,
For pure mixing 3 grams should be fine though i have always found the 500s to be quite skippy with less than 3,5 grams, and keep in mimnd that the t80 are more solidly built than the t60s.
