And remember, the unix system which osx is based on, is better at this kind of resource handling than Windows ;-) But I'm not gonna make this a discussion about os'es, they are both good!

just check my profile ;)

A smaller buffersize will give your cpu more to handle in a shorter time, and software response will be faster, but too small buffer will give you audio dropouts.

easiest way to find the right buffer is by decreasing the buffer when Cross has to handle much (jump cue points, scratch, heavy fx etc)
at some point you will get dropouts. increase buffer-size one step and that´s the one for you

I saw you were using Windows 7 yes ;-) As do I for most things except video editing and other memory demanding jobs. Windows is great stuff, and so is osx.

I'll try out different buffer sizes tomorrow, for me it's kids to bed now and after that I cannot do muck mixing. Makes to much noise ;-)

Hi,

noobie alert i'm afraid!!

Just purchased the ION Discover DJ MIDI Controller that came bundled with MixVibes Cross. Registered and updated to 1.3.2 straight away. Both the original version and this version dont seem to be giving much love when it comes to the monitoring. I dont have an external mixer or any other equipment other than the Mac, a set of headphones and the DJ Heroesque MIDI Controller that is the Ion, which i accept is a bit of a toy!! :)

Anyhow, i have a dongle soundcard (Plantronics). It's recognised by the Mac and works fine on Skype and various other audio applications, including, crucially Virtual DJ. So, the soundcard is fine.

Running the Free version of Virtual DJ, i am able to get monitoring working absolutely fine. Master is coming out of the Mac and the Cue is coming from the headphones. The set up and the equipment all works.

So then, whats up with MixVibes?

I little bit of research gives no definitive answer as to whether it should even work in the same way as Virtual DJ does (which it flippin should!) Monitoring is an essential part of mixing, so i cant see why it would be a Pro upgrade feature, if indeed it is, as someone has suggested. I would expect to see my USB soundcard in the Output options. The fact it doesn't seem to be recognised by MixVibes seems to be the critical issue right? Virtual DJ sees the usb soundcard and lets me put the Cue out through it. Perfect. MixVibes does not. Not Perfect.

To use the MIDI Controller (that i just bought) with Virtual DJ requires purchasing the Pro version (which i can do but rather wouldn't have to). The MIDI controller works with MixVibes (thank god) but without the Cue the application is useless.

Am i being dense??!!?!?? :)

Helpful (and calming) comments much appreciated in advance!

Cheers

james

you´re being dense, but just a little

download asio4all http://tippach.business.t-online.de/asio4all/downloads_1/ASIO4ALL_2_10_English.exe
and you´re good to go.

just select it from the preferences audio-dropdown menu, and route everything how you want it to.
Edit: you´re on mac. do it like this http://support.Apple.com/kb/HT1215

Jcut, nice work fella!

Need to tweak some stuff but the Aggregate audio device is doing the trick.

Cheers
