Cross DJ Demo/MIDI controller connection problem

Hi,

I'm trying to try out the Cross DJ software using the demo version (mac).

I can't seem to have my MIDI controller (Hercules DJ Control Steel) respond/function properly with the demo version. When going to the Cross DJ software preferences>MIDI, the software recognizes my controller, but I can't use my controller to play and mix tracks.

There is a small lock icon next to all controllers in Cross DJ Software preferences>MIDI, not sure what it means.

Really want to buy the software but need to get it sorted out before.

Impatiently waiting for advice : )

Hi,

can you give some more details?
E.G. does Cross show midi-input when using the controller? (the midi-pref panel lights up green on each midi-input received)
the small lock only means that it´s a factory preset that you cannot delete/change.
You could try to make a copy of the mapping (just click "x2") and see if you can get that one to work.

We´ll fix this :D

I have seen a similar problem with my Hercules RMX and the first time I used it with Cross

First off all, could you please check and see if you have the latest Hercules Driver Package installed. I've just installed the latest Package today (for my RMX)

Hercules DJ Console Series - 2011 HDJS 2 Package (26-04-2011)

If not then you can download for here

http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg ... =226&cid=1

Once this is installed, open up the Hercules Control Panel and make sure you have the "MIDI Channels for control" option set to Channel 1 (It's default channel, now)

Control Panel 2.jpg

The earlier Driver Packages from Hercules seemed to use Channel 2 and every time I used Cross I had to set this back to Channel 1. The newer packages use Channel 1 :)

I don't know whether it's the same the on the Mac, but I guess it should be. It's worth a check

Then restart the Demo and see

Great stuff guys! Thanks.

I've got the controller working. It's functioning in a strange manner though.

i.e: most controls including buttons and track "mini-decks" have now different functions. The "mini-decks" now impact the pitch of the tracks as opposed to helping me to match a track to another.

Secondly, I can't figure out where to select the different sound cards in the Cross DJ preferences order to have the cue going out in my headphones.

i.e: software now acts as if I had just one output. Missing the one for my headphones.

Almost there!

Thanks for your information, I've set it as advised. Unfortunatly, it seems that I can't set the output 2 on my secondary soudcard, as it doesn't appear in the list of choices.

I only have 2 following the options, even when the soundcard is connected: output1/output2 or --None--

I used VirtualDJ before and I could use this sound card with VDJ.

Looking forward to your help!

You can only run soundcard per program unless you´re using asio4all which is in general a bad idea for realtime-processing.

You can't use 2 soundcards into Cross. The only solution is to aggregate them with asio4all so they'll be as only one.
