Hi guys,

having some trouble here installing DVS on my netbook.
Since it doesn´t have a cd-drive, i thought copying the cd to a usb-drive would work but it doesn´t.
Is there something i have to do to make this work?
My other laptop is a mac and i dont seem to be able to access it´s drive via the local network as well...

any ideas asides buying an external drive? :D

Check if there is software for the mac that allows to create an image of the installation CD which you can copy (it is just a *.iso file) to your netbook where you can open it with deamon tools if it is a win netbook what I guess ;) I do not know if deamon tools exists for mac, if so this would be your choice ;)

Cheers,

Steve

After an hour of trying i figured it doesn´t work....
it´s not possible to "burn" an .iso on the mac.

Oh boy, looks like i need an external cd-drive.

give me some minutes, I will do a research ;)

HA! There you go:

"Erstellen einer Image-Datei zum Übertragen oder Sichern von Informationen
Sie können mit dem Festplatten-Dienstprogramm eine Image-Datei eines einzelnen Geräts, Ordners oder Volumes erstellen."

Oh sorry, it is in german! Let me translate:

"Creating an image for transferring or saving informations
You can use the harddisk-service-tool to build an image of a device, folder or a compelte volume."

What you want to do is creating an image of a device (mac's internal cd/dvd drive). If it is an *.iso you can use daemon tools on your win system to open the image ;)

Hope this works for you ;)

Cheers,

Steve

  :?: Not shure about the structure of DVS( updates overlaying the original install) :?: :?: check the search function in the fourm about netbooks and install,  remember a posting about the same situtation and i think the solution came as being able to download the program from mixvibes via internet.    like the new improved feature of the fourm updating posting before you submit a posting :D :D :D makes this suggestion null and void :D :D

well,
wouldnt call it a brilliant idea, but....it works.

For anyone on mac, just use the disk-utility (festplatten-dienstprogramm) to "burn" the image to a usb-drive, and then rename it from mixvibes.dmg to mixvibes.iso. and it´ll run on your win-machine.

cheers.
