Hello Mixvibes,

I have finally managed to afford my own Cross Pack system. It arrived in the week and I have just gone trhough setting it all up to my Pioneer CDJ 1000 MKIII's and my Pioneer DJM700 Mixer.

I have double checked everything and have followed the instructions regarding claibration made sure my pitches were at 0 and master tempo off etc, however all of my music that I load into the decks sounds juddery and is skipping all over the place. I have tried re-calibrating the timecoded cd's, checked all the connections and tried different buffering sizes all to no avail.

Also I was using absolute mode but couldn't figure out how to set a cue point. I tried pausing the track and then hit the cue button like I would with a standard CD on my Pionner decks but this just took the track back to the beginning. I had the decks in vinyl mode.

Here is some info about my laptop incase that is the problem.
It is a Compaq Presario CQ60 Laptop running Windows Vista Home Basic (not my choice but it came pre installed on the laptop when I bought it).
It has 1GB of Ram and a AMD Sempron SI-40 2.00 GHz processor. 32 bit Operating system.

PLease help me as I feel like I have wasted my money right now

from what you wrote I would say it are latency issues. Additionally your specifications are the minimum system requirements. 2GB RAM would be great but we have to work with what you have got actually.
You can try to set your latency to the highest value and try to mix with it. If the drop outs are still hearable it is a very bad sign. You should, if it works with the latency or not, optimate your computer for audio software. Here is the link: http://audioforums.com/windows-xp-optimization.php
It is an optimization for Win XP but a lot of that stuff is equal to Vista. Next thing is that Vista is not the best choice :-( I had Vista preinstalled on my machine as you have. It worked really bad, but after I installed WinXP/Win7 everything works really fine. If you have the ability to install XP or Win7 it might help you too.
First you should try the optimization and the latency setup. If this does not help or if any other problems come up please reply in this thread.

Hey Steve,

Thanks for your response. I had a feeling Vista maybe an issue and my RAM being low. I can upgrade to 2GB no problem, at least that would be cheaper than getting a new laptop .

How do i adjust the latency??

I take it this same issue could be what is causing my lack of ability to set cue points via the CDJ's??

Unfortunately you did not say which audio interface you are using. If you are using the U-Mix 44 or the U46 MK II you can adjust the latency in your soundcard control panel. Using a different audio interface you can try to adjust the latency in the Cross' audio preferences.

It can...Can you configure it that way that you are using Cross in CD Mode? Upper left, beneath the waveform you can switch between CD & Vinyl. This may help you out of it

Just to add, you need to adjust (or play around with) the ASIO buffer size.

Start of on a high sample rate, then work down. If you go to low with the size then you will get audio drop out's/problems.

Don't use the master tempo on the decks.

Steve, I am using the U46 MKII audio interface. I cannot however see how to adjust the latency of the device. I have found it as a device on my control panel in Hardware and Sound however cannot find anything to do with latency settings in there.

Support, I am not engaging Master Tempo and pitch on my decks is at zero.

Jim B I have changed the buffer size but this doesn't seem to help.

As regards Cueing. I am it appears in CD mode. However i only see this button for a few seconds when Cross loads up, then it disappears.

I'm on the verge of tearing my hair out here. I am going to so upset if the upshot of all this is that I have to buy a new laptop.

There is a different control panel in the task bar. There you can adjust the latency. It is near the option "buffer size" that you already changed. Please try this.

What happens if you click on it? Usually it should change from vinyl to cd and back. In CD Mode it works pretty good for me, but this won't help you. It should work for you too without any configuration.

Could this be a driver issue. I keep reading that there is a better driver for the u46 mkII?

Also i adjusted the buffer size in the Cross audio preferences window and I don't see any latency settings on there. When you say on the taskbar where do you mean. Could you provide a screen shot as I am not great with computers.

Also I cannot click on the CD/Vinyl button, it disappears once Cross window has fully loaded up??

I think there is something wrong with my version. Maybe it hasn't installed properly??
