my i5 problem

Postby wazza on 23 Nov 2010, 14:46

ok if you can help me with this i5 problem you will be my new best friend..

my laptop is a HP pavilion DV6-2120 tx..
intel core i5-430m processor 2.26 with turbo boost up to 2.53 GHz
500 gb hard-drive [ 7200 rpm ]
4096 MB DDR3 SD-RAM [2 dimm ]
15.6 LCD High-definition wide-screen display
N-Vidia GeForce GT 230M with 1024 DDR 3 dedicated graphics memory with HDMI out-put
802.11b/g/n w-lan & bluetooth
running windows 7 home premium ( 32 bit )

when I start my laptop I have to than plug my edirol fa 66 to the laptop and turn the power on,(if I power on the sound card before I turn on the laptop , the laptop will not see the sound card at all )
I hear the beep beep sound off the device loading.....I then go to start / control panel / to see if I can see the edirol fa 66 driver
if its ok then I open mixvibes and do the install wizard
then i can play for about 1 hour...then bang for no reason I loose the sound card...so I check the sound card page/ ASIO box in mixvibes & it says everthing is ok
so I close down mixvibes & open mixvibes again and do a install wizard ...I get to the vinyl config in the install wizard and it says no no input signial check needles or cables
if I use ASIO4ALL drives by them self (asio4all drives will not see the edirol sound card )
if I use the asio4all drivers & the edirol fa 66 drivers together the asio4all drivers will see the edirol sound card ....the in-puts from the turntables to the sound card work but the out-puts from the sound card to the mixer dont work
so I have to use the edirol drivers by then self so in-put and out-puts work
now if everthing is set-up & working and I close down mixvibes & shut down my laptop and then start my laptop up again
and start mv and do a install wizard ...all I get is no input signial check your needles and or input cables..

the only way to get it to work is every time I start my laptop up is to un-install the edirol fa 66 drivers & reboot and re-install edirol drivers & reboot...and then it works again untill I turn off my laptop again

FA66 mean firewire, do you know what is the chipset for the firewire ?
(texas instruments, nec, or what else...)

For firewire someone from the M-Audio support once told me when I had a problem with my former firewire audio interface that I should buy a PCMCIA firewire card with an Texas Instruments Chipset. Those would be the best. After that everything worked fine!

I just went to the HP support website to figure out what type of Firewire chip you got. If i guess correctly, since your card reader is made by JMicron, I think you have a Jmicron Firewire chipset. Unfortunately this is the worst type of chipset to have. I heard more horror stories about this one than even Ricoh. In some cases using even a Texas Instruments FW express card doesn't work, but give it a shot anyways. Also if you didn't tweak your laptop do so.
