Hi There,

I just bought a MV Cross Pack and installed it on my laptop. When i load in the second track the sound stutters a bit, also during mixing it doesn't sound very good. What can i do to improve it ?

It's a dell studio i5
4.096 MB 1333 MHz Dual Channel DDR3-geheugen [2 x 2.048]

It sounds like a latency issue to me.

What is your ASIO buffer set at in the sound cards control panel? It's sounds like it's set to low.

Well i´m not well with computers, however i think i found what you mean.

ASIO4ALL v2.10

i have 2 options

ATI HD audio device
IDT HD Audio codec

Both have a buffer size of 512 samples (don´t know what it means)

+ at options it says allow pull mode (wave rt)

Buffer offset : 4ms on both



tried to put in a pic with it but don't know how.

Hope you can advice with this info

First of all, the buffer sample rate is basically how fast your PC/laptop can react or process the information from the software. The lower the buffer size sample the quicker it reacts.

If you go to low with this sample rate than your system can handle then you will get audio problems (sound glitches) and the software will react strangely. If you go to high, and you will get too much of a delay between the software and the action of it.

Did you buy the software only (Cross) or the software, Audio interface and timecodes (Cross Pack)

It looks like you are using the internal sound card in your PC/laptop. I'm I right?

I'm not really familiar with the ASIO4ALL drivers, I use my own sound cards ASIO drivers.

But what I would try is to increase the buffer sample rate, (in other words is to make the figure bigger) and see how the software reacts.

Change this sample rate before you run/open Cross

I bought the complete pack with U46mk2. U get an LE version with the pack with vinyl & CD's.

I hadn't checked the asio with the U46mk2 plugged in yet, i just did and now it's possible to change the parameters of the U46mk2.

I should try to play with the values of asio at U46mk2 before starting Cross, is that correct or do i have the change the ones from my internal soundcard ?

Is asio a standard program on your PC, the asio program i have was downloaded with the demo of mix vibes which i downed a few weeks ago ?

This is what I would do,

First un-install the ASIO4ALL drivers you have on your system. Having 2 sets of ASIO drivers on your system may cause conflicts. If you need the ASIO4ALL drivers you can always download them again.

Connect the U46mk2 sound card (I would always use this card for Cross rather than your internal sound card) and open up the control panel for it.

Set the ASIO buffer for 512 samples. This is a good figure to start of with. Any changing of the buffer is done here in the U46mk2 control panel.

Once this is done run/open Cross and test.

It works great now, i only had one strange thing after 1 hr of spinning. The track on the right desk started shifting speeds, very strange. Does this sound familiar 2 you ?

No, it doesn't, maybe it was a slight hi-cup in the timecode signal, or something like that. I'm guessing really

I would keep a eye on it and see if it does it again.
