DAP DS-MP-170 MIDI controller

I just bought the DAP DS-MP-170 MIDI controller. I have downloaded the Cross 1.4.0 update. Under preferenes - MIDI it says: No MIDI device available, althought the controller is connected with the USB cable. Also the MIDI controller is not in the list of MIDI - mappings.
The os is Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron laptop.
What can I do to get this controller working?
