Where to get DVS Ultimate or DVS 7?

Hi sales staff,

to obtain a DVS 7 version I suggested to buy DVS Ultimate which was listed/announced for 149,- Euros at German retailers. I was ready to buy a soundcard I don't need and I was ready to buy another set of Vinyls (I already have 32 MV/Spin vinyls in various colors and I guess you do not sell vinyls without margin... so I contributed my part ;) to business) packed in the box just to get the software.
Now once DVS Ultimate is on Stock dealers ask for about 190,-...to 220,- for the package. I am not willing to pay such price.

I am absolutely willing to pay the same price I have paid for Cross (about 80,- Euros for the download version).
I looked for a download on the Mixvibes website. But I can not find any DVS software - except Cross.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong while searching

Best regards.

P.S.
I am not looking for any video functionality and I am not looking for a third or fourth player or any effects. Just DVS above 7.2 (because of the beat matcher).

What is so special about the DVS 7.2+ beat matcher? Cross has a beat matcher too, is this one not as precise as the one in DVS 7.2+ ?

To be honest, Blackbrook,

the more I play around with Cross, the more I dislike it's unflexibility in customizing the user interface (Beat matcher is simply lacking contrast and I can not bear this shiny mac-something glass finish any more ;) , Playlist without automatic cover art reading from the tag, window layout is not saved, a.s.o).

Don't get me wrong; this is not a problem of Cross, it's mine. And I'm far away from selling the prog. It's part of my "collection" - and it will be...but I'm not interested in MIDI controllers, automatic beat matching, auto-mix, or CD control. But... nobody knows what updates will bring in the future.

Example: I always disliked my Virtual Vinyl due to the poor Timecode vinyl engine and "stored" it in the garage... and suddenly with version 6.07 the Timecode engine became rock solid and extremely flexible (absolute mode for nearly every vinyl!). It became my favoured app together with PCDJ in 2010.
Since Dex version 1.1 (which is djDecks 0.99) now even Track selection for Virtual Vinyl vinyls and Traktor vinyls is provided and works! And both apps allow me to customize the interface regarding my needs and taste.
Excuse my excourse, but you asked for ;)

I did some skinning with the demo version of DVS 7.2 and found the prog more fulfilling my demands. On the other hand I can make a business with external sound cards (e.g. Versaport is just the dongle for Touch DVS, Conectiv is the dongle for Torq, the Virtual Vinyl box is simply useless) and don't want to buy more.
It's that simple: Changing the wallpaper (Tapetenwechsel, you know) sometimes is fun and challenge, even with software.

Best regards.

Ah I see, now I got an impression of what you are aiming at. As you said it is a personal question if you like Cross' graphic user interface or not. If you are asking me I can tell you that I prefer Cross instead of DVS. Since I got Cross running smoothly I only ran DVS when the RC came out to test a bit (all in all no hour) or when I had to look up something to help someone in the forums. The feeling and the look of Cross is far way better than DVS, but as we both know: this are personal impressions.

I hope for you, that there is a chance for a cheap solution :)

Greetings,

Steve

You're right, Steve, to us German is native. But using English is of most use for all forum members ...and for our capabilities using foreign languages. We know what the English guys are talking about...?

Just FYI:
To install DVS7 from the Ultimate package the U-Mix 44 interface must be connected... therefore it is actually a kind of dongle...
But you can un-plug it when installation has started and must never connect it again (I suppose) to use DVS. To me this is a good solution and doesn't give me the impression of buying useless hardware (LOL)... or missed the opportunity of a cheaper download.

BTW:
With the new track view (without any buttons) and the improved beat match window (now it has nearly the same "flex-behaviour" than in Cross),to my opinion, DVS is ahead of Cross regarding Vinyl-Auflegen. Regarding media management and tagging it's vice versa... so one need both ;)
