Cross 1.3.2 With Edirol FA-66 issue

Well then...

I seem to have a problem now... ever since i updated myself to Cross from Producer I get a problem trying to calibrate the left turntable on Cross. The error it gives me is:

The deck playing speed is not 1 (i.e pitch 0)
Please reset it and retry.

I know for a fact that it is correct installed/configured since i used to run it the exact same way on Producer. From what i understand its a pitch issue. So what i did was to try to connect the turntable 1/left (ORIGINALLY on Edirol FA-66 1 1/Edirol FA-66 1 1) in to the soundcards RIGHT input (Edirol FA-66 2 1/Edirol FA-66 2 ) but i didnt get the same error.

But when i connect right turntable vice versa as i did with turntable left i DO get the same error. So my guess was the soundcard input. So i switch it back to normal again. this time when i calibrate it didnt give me any error and it was all good to have dj-set.

the day after i retried to calibrate (was testing it) and now i have the same problem/error again.

i use the asio4all v2 driver..

so now i thought it is because of the soundcard... but it AINT... cause it still works in Producer with no issues... why am i getting this error in Cross?

And what can i do to prevent this issue?

regards..

Ps. I did try to search for it in the forum but only found a thread that was written in polish which i dont understand...

Someone said that he uninstalled his Realtek soundcard's driver and everything gone well.

I didn't try it because I think I need this @!!# soundcard to have sound on my HDMI port...
However, I'm going to try it later and tell you what's happening.

Not the exact audio interface, but the same company. This may help you ;)

try using the standard edirol drivers, as they have always worked fine for me, and ive been using the fa66 for 5 years now ;)
And yes , i have had the 'pitch' message before, and it seemed to be a problem with the amount of gain given(software) to the ch 1&2. didnt have problems with the 3&4 channels. I just gave it a bit more ,and it seems to work fine now ;)

How u do this? Manually by increasing the input 1&2 on the soundcard?
cause i tried that and it didnt work =(

and i have also tried by disabling the realtek drivers and other sound drivers... still dont work =(

Do you get it work if you calibrate it manually ? I mean, at zero pitch, setting the gain by hand so that the circle fits perfectly into the square.

If after this manual calibration step it works without issue, there's indeed a bug in automatic calibration when using a FA-66. Otherwise, the problem is elsewhere...

Let us know !

Cheers,

1&2 are not the same connectors/gain as 3&4 if I remember well.
The gain is not the same on both pairs to work fine.

Ok got, it.
When I tried to calibrate with the FA66, I have an issue with the input 1&2.
- phase inversion : but Cross invert it and it was ok.
- channel inversion : Cross didn't see it. Need to set [inv] or to reverse cables.
- input volume and balance: on my MK2 with M44-7 I have to set the knobs gain like this :
input 1-one o'clock
input 2-in the middle between one and two o'clock.

Now calibration work flawlessly.

need to ty that tomorrow...

i have recently found some new issues... dont know the reason why i get these... never had any problems with Producer... so the problems i get are these:

1)

turntable left (connected on input 1&2) is running a song... when i "risp" the vinyl with the cartridge on the right turntable (connected on 3&4) the left tt starts lagging and the sound gets corrupted in an awful way... i hope ya understand what i mean when im saying "risp"... when you manually take the cartridge and scratch the vinyl WITH the cartridge...

2)

running a song on one deck, and then loading a new song to the other deck makes the computer run really hard.. the processor gets up to 100% and stays there for like a couple of seconds... during this process i cant do anything... cause if i do i get the same lagging sound as in issue 1.
And yes i have already analyzed all the tracks..

3)

ive noticed that after running the sw for a little while (15 mins) the processor is running on approximatly 75%.. this is in the mode when i only play the song (no scratches and such)
i know that this is something that is corrupted since i compare it to Producer (in the same mode) and it was on 12-17%

4)

after locating cue points on a song i cant control the song in vinyl mode anymore... as if it will only accept "auto-mode" and not via external controlers such as cd or vinyl (i run on vinyl and havent tried with cd though)

well... those are the ones that i have found atm...

i dont know the answers for it though... i might need to add to say that the windows i use is stripped down with nothing extra.. and i only use the computer for this software... could it be that i need to upgrade?
Producer works very well and i use the sampler with an external controller (akai mpd24) together with vinyl...

can any1 who is more advanced whren it comes to troubleshooting run the same things and see if they get the same issues..

many thx...

Not enough processing power atm

Same

Shouldn't happen...

Never seen this one  What version are you using ???

Very weird ones I must say, hope we'll find the answers.

Latest stable is 1.3.2 and there is a 1.4RC out.

Producer works very well and i use the sampler with an external controller (akai mpd24) together with vinyl...

Works or worked ?
Because for me there is something different on your setup now from when you was using Producer.

can any1 who is more advanced whren it comes to troubleshooting run the same things and see if they get the same issues...

Could you check your power scheme and actual cpu frequency. I think that you're running in eco or low performance profile.

Works!
and no... there is NOTHING changed compared to when using Producer... except that I am not using the external sampler anymore...

since i have stripped down Windows i can not use any extra functions such as eco mode and such... there are no power schemes or so.. and i did check the settings and they are all running on 100%

when it comes to the processor i have realised that i need to upgrade to a better laptop.. and im thinking of converting to macbook pro... will the 2,4ghz intel c2d be enough? i dont want anything larger then 13'...

get back... regards..
