[Cross] How 2 change the track gain permanently?

Hi!

Since the input level is way too much i would like to change the "track gain" if the 2 decks permanently by -3dB.
I tried to edit "input level" & "input gain" into the Cross.settings but it did not work out - any tips?

TIA!

The inputs level is the level of the timecode getting into the soundcard.
The track gain is the level of the files into the software decks.

They have nothing to do with each other.

Yup, i know. And i would like to change the "track gains" of the decks to -3 dB or so. Yes, i could do this manually when i just loaded the track but it will jump back to 0dB wenn loading the next one.

I don't understand the point : do you have clipping or so ?

Not really clipping, but i need to put the gains on the DJM 500 down to around 22:00h which isn`t really "comfortable". Maybe there is any "master volume" on the software which i can turn down? I tried to change the soundcard input settings into Cross but then the timecode signal looks low,

The master volume is not available in the external mixer mode, the outputs are straight outputs as would have been any cd players and the 10 o'clock trim position is a normal one in my eyes with a U46 (U-Mix44 should put you near 2 o'clock).

Now I've got a question : how would you do that with a cd player or any high powered source ?

Well no idea, i never used a cd player ;)
But you are right, it isn`t a real problem, but it might be some feature request to make the master volume available into external mixer mode too.

How about fading down the output in the audio interface's panel? As you can see down in a screenshot of my U46 MK II there you can fade the output channels. May this solve your problem sakaana?

Greetings,

Steve

Thanks Steve - but the Conectiv doesn`t have any controls for the in/output ;)
