DISCOVER DJ problems

Hi all,

I've recently purchased the ION Discover DJ and a new Packard Bell Laptop:
AMD Athlon
250 GB
3 GB Memory
Windows 7.

I've got a few problems.
Firstly, there seems to be a slight latency issue with the Jog Wheels. I'm talking half a second to a second. As a result I can't really scratch or drop properly as obviously the timing issue is to confusing.

Secondly, The software seems to be having problems with my set up. Yesterday it crashed - and even though I haven't had a crash problem since, I do have a problem when I spin the non-playing record back, for some reason it causes the other 'live' record to stutter with a latency issue.....

I tried lowering the buffer inside the mix software - but two things happen when I do this: If i lower it too much, the music simply will not play but the wave form on the screen shoots along at a very fast rate. If i lower the buffer to the middle - my songs plays, but stutters and spits rapidly.

I forgot to mention I am using a Soundcard - Creative - SB X-Fi Go!

If there's any advice you guy's can give I'd be most grateful!

P.s - the scratching sounds pretty nasty - is there any way this can be changed or should I ask myself - 'what more do you want for a $100 controller!?'

I've just downloaded ASIO4all. I'm not sure how to use this thing. I changed the soundcard within Mixvibes preferences to ASIO - is that the right thing to do?
It's saying: "some of your devices input channels (Not Connected) are already used by some other process and can't be opened. Quit them all and try again"

Hi Allan. Welcome to the MV forum.
Have you gone to the downloads section to make sure you have the latest version available?

P.S. the creative go! is ONLY a '2 channel' soundcard. You need a 4 channel soundcard, or be able to use your onboard laptop sound simultaneously to be able to 'monitor'(use headphones) and have your main 'house' sound in stereo.
Cheers

Hey!
Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm gonna get a better soundcard soon - but my main worry is the latency issue. Is this linked to my 2 channel card??

And yes I downloaded the latest Cross for ion tonight, no difference with latency though.

I agree with hemskoc! The audio interface seems to be the point! You should try to test another one with 4 in- and outputs. Also configure your computer for audio software. Try the forum's search function, there is a tutorial about it.

Greetings,

Steve

Not really cheap but worth a buy are the ESI U46 MK II or the new U-Mix that are sold with Mixvibes Software. I own the first one and I am totally happy with it. You should test it before you buy!!!! I do not want to be blamed as that guy who told you that this is the Ultimate solution and afterwards you realise that it was the wrong solution! So please test it before you spen the money!!

Greetings,

Steve

I don't know how I'm gonna be able to test. Nobody sells these things locally, it will have to be an order from the net!
Thanks.

P.s I can't find anything from the search option regarding the configuration of your comp/lap. Any thing specific to search for?
