U46mk2 problems in OSX

There's a few problems I've discovered when using the U46mk2 under OSX, which are not show stopping, but very annoying nevertheless. If anyone else has found a way around these I'd be happy to know.

1. Changing the volume of the U46mk2 in sound preferences changes only outputs 1/2. 3/4 AND 5/6 both remain acting as if they were full volume (unless completely muted)

2. Why can't 48000hz be chosen as a sample rate for the U46mk2 under OSX? This is easily configurable under Windows, why not OSX? I believe that outputs 5/6 will not function under 48khz, because of the USB speed at v1.1. This is also not selectable - the card cannot be used in a mode where not all inputs and outputs are active.

Pardon me for not noticing ESI had released a control panel for the card!

Is this included on the Cross Pack Disc? I have not opened mine (kept it sealed) as I already own a license for Cross, and hoped to sell it on.

I shall test this later on when I get back, thanks Mr. S! x

The U46 control panel is useless when using the U46 with Cross.
Cross set the channel volumes itself.
That's why it's not on the cd-rom.

For an advanced usage, you might want to download it, indeed.

Appears if you leave the panel open when you open Cross it allows you to adjust the levels (allowed me to change the levels of turntable inputs to remove the need for Cross to amplify). The output levels could be changed too, even when Cross was open.

Sample rate cannot be changed with this tool though. I'll contact ESI directly on the issue.

Raising the volume thru the panel or thru Cross is the same, because Cross "talked' too with the soundcard.

On a side note, using the 6 volume sliders in applications/utilities/audi & MIDI doesn't work ?

You're completely right, i forgot in my previous answer that there are still an unresolved issue with U46 input volumes.
Cross will set the U46 volumes, but for now, without differentiating the cd and vinyl cases. Then, the input volumes aren't at their maximum and you'll effectively increase the vinyl input signal quality by changing them ! This need to be fixed in an upcoming update.
Unfortunately the ESI control panel is not aware of Cross volumes changes and might show you high volumes whereas Cross just set them down...

This was very common in most of the ASIO drivers and is still often the case: You can't change the samplerate (or the buffer size) while the driver is being used.
Good luck with contacting ESI for that :)

Not exactly the same as the calibration gains in Cross aren't the U46 input gains but only software gains...

I though the levels were rising remotely... sorry.
