Recording own mix issues

Well after a 3.5 hour set at home before I try venturing outwards while recording I came into a interesting issue.

While I am recording at about 45 min the recording goes super scratchy. Once I turn record off it's like I never missed a beat and all is fine again.

Well on my outro sound it wouldn't play but I did bump the card for external drive but also I think it is the P.O.S. (Hercules MK2) MIDI controller I have but I could be wrong.

Any suggestions, anyone?

I was mixing earlier not recording and I had no issues but after 3-5 songs it did get a break while I found some more music to mix.

Also check my web page (in signature block) in a day or 2 for mixes I have done.
PS I am fixing the issue with the MK2 within 6 months due to a move. Less crap to carry or get broke.

Thanks for the information for posting them.

I played back my mixes this morning and you can't hear any of the crackling of the music so I'm still assuming that it is my cheap MIDI controller with sound card built in rather than the program it self.

I got my sights set for a Vestax VCI-100 and a Roland Edirol FA-101 in the near future. I figure I can atleast go to venues and hook up until I get my actual mobile set.
