[EN]Cross something up with iTunes

Dunno what it is, but since the upgrade from 125, (USING iTunes Outside of Cross) half my library has changed tags to the original tags, after ive spent ages changing the tags. ...it has even duplicated tracks, showing the same file location in the library(for both tracks), but if i remove one of the duplicates, the remaining track states 'Track cannot be found'. Seems it has even changed/affected tags in my mediabase from what i had changed them to....when i click on some songs, it seems to update them, but for others, they do not...
This also has happened with a few tunes in the 'Cross iTunes' panel. reloading library button does not help....what has happened??
Something else - I also cant seem to change the width of the column 'duration' which is very wide, and does not need to be to display time information. sorta need the extra space for other info i used to be able to see.
is the mediabase affecting the tags? id3v2.4?
what program is writing to what program? seems like an endless loop of confusion which i have become a part of.
now i have to go and play NYE

I had some issues with iTunes, although not sure if it had anything to do with Cross, what i found was that Windows Media player had my tracks in its library dont know how i never even use windows media player this caused the tags to be changed when played in iTunes ie genre went from HipHop to 7

Thanks mate - but that Apple thread still doesn't post any real solutions. Ive never used wmp on that side of my partition. I had a look, and wmp is not set to library sync. I got a feeling its something to do with Cross 1.3+ series, as it was fine b4 in 125.
Any1 else have any ideas before i have to go through my iTunes Library AGAIN?

No it doesn't.

I couldn't run the BIG test I wanted to on these tags issues so I did a quick one.
- imported several folders in iTunes with no bpm
- quit iTunes
- open Cross
- import iTunes
- analyze peak & bpm
- quit Cross
- open iTunes
- all the bpm are there
- delete them
- quit iTunes
- open Cross
- import iTunes
- bpm are cleared

I also try a variant
- open Cross
- import iTunes
- open iTunes
- edit in iTunes
- reload in the iTunes panel of Cross
- all edited files are updated in Cross

Seen this one, all columns can be changed but not the duration one.

I'm not a big fan of iTunes and don't know how it work exactly but I managed to used it easily and with no issue with Cross.
As far as I understood, they both share the xml file, so it's better (imo) to use only one app at once to avoid the xml corruption.

The "Duration" column can't indeed be resized, because most of (if not all) the possible durations fit the fixed width. On my computer, the column is not too wide nor too tight. Just wide enough to hold the column title...

More precisely, Cross only reads the iTunes xml and never writes it (would be useless as iTunes only writes it and never reads it!).
However, I don't exactly know when iTunes update its xml.
In iTunes 8.x, the file was only updated at shutdown. In iTunes 9.x, it seems to have changed a bit...

Considering iTunes has upated the file, reloading it in Cross updates your iTunes pane without known issue.

did you upgrade from iTunes 8 to 9 ?? I didn't have any issues, but this is probably an upgrade issue

Thanks for all that information guys. Much appreciated. Im running iTunes 9x, but did you get to test a small batch of files while using 125, change the file infos, then upgrade to 132 to see if the tags were changed or reset? (ps i HATE iTunes! ) i use it because my partner and i DJ- she uses a Mac, and i use PC-(her mac is not powerful enough to run Cross ) thats the only reason i use iTunes...
