GETTING STARTED (mixvibes Cross)

Hi everyone,

i have recently purchased Mixvibes Cross Pack and i am having trouble setting up. i have followed the instruction and rewired the whole thing up a few times and the sound quality is terrible (distorted) The decks i have don't have ground wires, does this make a difference.

Also i can't seem to find a by-pass button to enable to to play records without using the audio interface.

Please can you help.

Many thanks
JP

Hi. Welcome inthemix83 to the mixvibes forums.. :)
Whats your setup(computer specs, soundcard, tables ect)?
do you have the u46Mk2 soundcard?
If yes with the sound card, this thread has some info on setting up : viewtopic.php?f=207&t=12058
*Groundless tables do not have a problem (mine dont have ground wires either, works no problems)
*to play normal vinyl, click on the tab in the center of the mixvibes console.('player' tab i think it says, and it will switch to a Vinyl input). *You have to go through the audio interface to use normal vinyl.
*You could go and buy "1 into 2 rca adapters"(a pair of them), and have a mixer with dual inputs(phono and line) if you want to play normal vinyl and bypass the audio interface ;)
Good luck
Cheers

Hi Hemskoc,

Thanks got the by-pass sorted now.

I have a U46mk2 and using stanton str8-150.

I am using the programme on a Mac Book and the link you sent me is for windows not OS.

still having the distortion even with a normal vinyl.

Any other ideas.

Thanks

Sweet on the bypass- i have stanton str8-100's and they work fine..
Sounds like a 'hot' signal...
Is the switch in the tables - on line or phono(make sure its phono)?
I think there is an input selection switch on the U46-Is the U46 set on line or Phono? try switching it, and adjust the gains in Cross
Sorry bout the windows link
Cheers

I just have seen that OSX cant use asio4all. I just took a guess before you provided your computer info that u had a PC, as there are not that many problems with Mac sound setups.
Core Audio was introduced in Panther (10.3)- It's part of the OSX .
I still think its something with your input switching....Did u check those?(u didnt mention this in your last response)
Any1 else have any ideas?
Cheers

I have everything set to phono as line doesn't work.

Sorry to sound thick but what do you mean but input switching.

I dont think thats a 'thick' question at all mate! lol
the line/ phono switches on the front panel-see image:

make sure they are on phono,(and on your T tables)- adjust the gain so its not to 'hot'. Have the mixvibes preferences>vinyl control tab open to see the quality of your signal. Should be 2 circles displayed 'within' the calibration box for correct input gain signal.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Its all set to phono on the decks and the u46. All the connection are in correct. but theres still soo much distortion. do the gains on the box actually do anything.

When i calibrate the records it tell me the quality is 100% until i remove the needle.

Is there any chance that it could be a problem with the programme. I really don't fancy going out and buying a new laptop just to see if it works.

Actually, you should be using the Line switch instead of Phono, as Cross parses the signal a lot better.

Disregard that, I just looked at the release notes (thanks hem ;)) and this was changed up. Phono's fine.
