Hi, I am currently a VDJ/Hercules console user but I am considering switching to Cross. My question is can I use a pair of Pioneer CDJ 200 players with the pack, i.e. will they be completely functional since their jog weels do not have "vinyl" emulation like the CDJ 1000s. Will I be able to use vinyl scratch, reverse spin etc. by simply switching from CD to vinyl on the software?
Thanks!

Hi, phadedvision, thank you so much for your reply! Do you know for a fact that scratching/backspin works fine with CDJ-200s in Cross or just assuming? Cause in all the nice demos I see on the web they all use the expensive CDJ-1000s. Thanks!

From my viewpoint, it's an assumption as I do not have CD decks. However, the backspin the DJ does in the Cross appears to have been done on vinyl mode within the software, not the deck. (Based on my experience with MIDI and experimenting with the vinyl/CD modes). Hope this helps!

It can't work, here is why : When you're scratching you are giving the sound (in our case timecode) direction change (forward/backward/forward and so on).
The software is analyzing the variation that implies to the signal and play your audio file based on what he has understood from reading the timecode.
So if you put a CDJ in vynil off mode (what I did with a CDJ 400) you're only sending bending modulation of the signal, you don't have any influence on the direction, so you can't scratch.

just for clarification : the CDJ 200 doesn't have a "vinyl mode"... the platter can only be used for pitch bending, thus all scratch, backspin and other turntablist moves are impossible.
