Cross doesn't work with my vynil - strange problem

hey, i just bought the Cross version today, having the V2K vinyl that i already got with Pro 6 (now Producer) and I can't get the program to work.

it doesn't read my vinyl, no matter how much i try playing with it. i've gone through all the settings, but there isn't much I can do, now I have no idea what to change.

I have a macbook pro which I use with my U46MKII soundcard. I have installed the u46 control panel and i have everything set like i had it on my PC.

i asked in another thread if my vinyl would work and i got a positive answer. I got the high pitched voice from both sides but no signal is displayed in the calibration settings, no matter what i do. when i put the needles away, the signal comes in and it shows a dot in the middle of the calibration square. as soon as i put the needles back on, the signal dissapears.

I have no idea what to do, but please don't tell me i have to buy the vinyl now also. there must be a logical explanation for this.
i'm going crazy, cause nothing never just works like i would like to.

now i've found out, at times when i put the vinyl on, the track goes through at an insane speed. if i put the needle a little further, it goes vveeeeeeeeeeeery veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow. then when i play around with the needle, i get nothing again. now it's all quiet again.

what is wrong?

all right!

i have found a solution, thank god. i will explain this now but can you guys please tell me why this is so?

as i said, i have u46mkii soundcard. now if i understand the manual correctly, my switches on the soundcard inputs should be set to PHONO (where it says Hi/z - Line - Phono). that's what i had and it caused me trouble. now i changed it to line and it works flawlessly (at least from what i could gather in these 10 minutes now).
in the settings window i have the input level set to Phono, but under it it the checked option of course now is Line (cause i switched the switches there on the soundcard).

now i don't know why i have to have it set to line, when i have two turntables connected straight into the soundcard, and then that routed to the external mixer. i figured that everything should be on phono and i'm wondering why this is like that.

can any of you from the mixvibes team explain this to me?

now i'm back to trying to spin and testing. i have less than 3 hours to my online radio show left, so i guess i'll be playing on my macbook tonight.

Hi Mojster Jaka,

Indeed Cross is recommended with a line setting on the U46MK2. Good job on figuring that out.

This setting is prefered to avoid all distrotion of the timecode by the phono filtering and preamiplifiaction.
