Cross with external HD

Postby djmusic5 on 30 Mar 2009, 21:25

SoI have my external HD which contains my entire iTunes library. When I use Cross(demo) it cant find the tracks show up in the iTunes browser, yet when i try to drop a track in a deck, it says it cant find the file. I didnt see anything in the preferences about this. Is this a limitation in the demo only? I'm pretty suer i am going to purchase Cross, but need to make sure that this wont happen with the full version.
THnx!

Hello !!

This might be a bug.... No limitation like that in the demo...

Could you give me some further information ... ? (mac/PC, hdd filesystem, name of your directories, etc.)

I'll have a try with the lastest version cause the demo is not up to date...(you've got 1.1.5 ?)

Cheers,

try this:

open iTunes
command A (select all)
right click > get info
"Are you sure you want to edit info for multiple items" > yes
then click OK

i know i had the same problem and i think that fixed it.. don't have my external right now to try it but i will later

Does anybody know if it's a known iTunes bug ?

Thanx phillip !

i don't think it's an iTunes bug.

i think it is because Cross does not refresh the iTunes library xml file. so as you constantly plug in and remove the external hard drive, Cross does not recognize it.

If you press the reload button in the iTunes pane, Cross reload the xml file and refresh the track list.
If the file paths are correct in the xml file, Cross will be able to load the tracks....

What do you mean exactly ?
Maybe I missed something ...

Well it certainly means the iTunes xml file was corrupted (i.e. contained bad paths) and a global "get info" in iTunes fixed it ...
