home 7 Monitor Problem

From vinyl and external mixer i´m used to be able to use the crossfader for the outgoing signal and the monitor for ...monitoring.
Doing so in mixvibes, the crossfader cuts the monitor signal of the right player when moved all the way left. The same thing happens opposite direction too. (I forgot to mention: Yes, I do use two soundcards, one for the outgoing signal, one for the monitor)

Further more there is no display 1/2 under the monitor button as in the demonstration video.
Is there a failure or a hidden secret?
Would anybody be so kind and help?

Greetings

can you post us a screen shot of your mixvibes screen?

i'm not sure i understand your problem, from what i can gather your scrsspader is cuttin out the audio on the right player when you fade left and right.. yes?

there is a coupld of things that can go wrong but untill we have a better look it will be hard to judge..

regards,
Bryan

Hey bryan,
I´m sorry, I don´t know how to post a screenshot but I´ll try to explain a bit more detailled.
i do use mixvibes home with two soundcards and the internal mixer.
I press the monitor button for player two and it works until I´ve moved the crossfader all the way left. Then the signal of the monitor cuts (is not hearable anymore). The same thing happens when pressing the monitor button on player one and moving the crossfader all the way right.
Shouldn´t the monitor work independently from the crossfader/outgoing signal? -that´s what i´m used to when spinning on my technics with an external mixer (without using mixvibes).

-----------------
Check out the graphic top left on the following page:
http://www.mixvibes.com/site/pageeng/pa ... x=mv7home7
That´s what my mixvibes is looking like!
Check out the video on this page:
http://www.vimeo.com/950469
Theres a "1" or "2" under the monitor button.
That doesnt appear in my mixvibes version
Is there a correlation?

Hope this information was helpfull and you can help.

Thanks, Nici

Hello, I am having the same problem. It's actually not just the crossfader but the channel fader too. I should be able to press the headphone button to hear that deck in the headphones, regardless of the position of the faders. So if I want deck 2 in the headphones, I should be able to hear it even if the fader is down and the crossfader is all the way to deck 1. I can't seem to find any option in the software to make that happen :(

Hi DJSLick,
you´re right. This also happens with the channel faders.
Funny thing is, I did never see that problem in former versions of mixvibes.

In my analog mixer the channel faders don´t affect the monitor, only the gain knobs do.
Maybe we just got to remain patient until someone has an answer for that problem.

Greetings

MIXVIBES has pre & post fader Monitor set-up
it sounds to me your using post fader monitor

on my Vestax VCI I have 3 knobs up in the top right hand corner( Master Volume , Head-Phono volume & Monitor Select )

with the Monitor Select knob all the way to the right & both head-phono buttons on you get no fader control over the monitor (pre-fader ) ...with the monitor select knob all the way to the left & both head-phono buttons on you get fader control over the monitor ( post fader )...or if you set the monitor select someware in the middle , this is good because you can set the volume levels in your head-phonos before you go live

if you have a MIDI CONTROLLER this is the MIDI line
#b0 59....MONITORMIX....SOUND 1 .... .....0....0....0.....Change the monito mix level

if you don't have a MIDI controller....you can try to map the monitor select ( the MONITORMIX command ) to the key-board with the mixvibes key-board mapper

........................EDIT UP-DATE INFO.........................

Ok....I was up all night trying to map the MONITORMIX command
to a key's on my lap-top key-board with mixvibes key-board mapper
just to see if it will work

it work one way but not the other ,I mean with a click off a maped key I can go from post-fader to pre-fader ....but with a click off another maped key it will not go from pre-fader back to post-fader
I'm not very good at key-board mapping and I think its a FLAG problem or somthing..

If you give me some more time & some help/idears
I think we can fix this problem for you all :D

Hi Wazza, thanks for your answer. Where can I find the keyboard mapper?

You can either map it using the MIDI learn function or go into options -> keyboard and edit your mapping there. I think version 6 was the last series to have the keyboard mapper as an external app.

The problem with learning is there is no button on the interface switching pre/post cueing. If I understand Wazza's post, he means that function is there and can be accessed using the mapper. I found the mapper in Home under Prefs>Keyboard>Edit but to be honest, I don't really understand it. I'm not sure what the Control, Flags, Values should be set to. It doesn't seem right to have go through this to be able to switch to pre fader listen?
