timecode cd vs MIDI

Postby trevswift on 04 Feb 2009, 20:01

hi all,
I just got my hands on a Denon dns 1200. The guys at their forum say that transferring the cd timecode to the USB will give the best/most reliable timecode performance. Can the mixvibes cd be copied and transferred?

2nd is there a benefit in using MIDI instead of timecode in terms of latency and performance? is scratch function of jog wheels effective with MIDI learn?

When it comes to cd timecode it won’t make much of a difference, if you are going to gain anything at all then it’s going to be with loading times.

Copying the Mixvibes timceode cd can be tricky, it MUST be copied in a RAW format or at a lossless quality.

Timecode control is much more precise, you will have all the performance of a vinyl turntable pitch control or cd deck pitch control. With MIDI there are limitations with pitch control, and it is not possible to scratch with MIDI as you would with timecode control however if you are only mixing tracks together then its normally fine, if not a little frustrating sometimes, lol.

I hope this answers your questions..

Regards,
Bryan
