[solved] ID3-Writeout

Postby NebuK on 23 Dec 2008, 18:00

Hi,

i've got some little problem when writing out ID3-Tags (MediaBank -> marked media -> write id3-tag). The genre i entered manually in the genre field in the media just doesnt find its way to the mp3s ID3 field. At least when importing that file again into another MediaBase instead the Genre i entered the Genre-Tag only contails "(<Some Number>)" (e.g. "(18)").

How can i tell MixVibes to correctly write out the Information i entered manually in the MediaBase?

Thanks in advance
Greetings

Hi nebuk,

check the folder that contains your audio files in windows explorer, you may find some tracks with funny names, i.e. your-song.mp3.XXXXXX

if you have these files you have to rename them back to .mp3 inorder for them to work again... (also deleting/moving the original files from which the new files were created)

Also
Mixvibes has trouble with some tag formats, i use Rapid Evolution to strip out my tags and rewrite them in JID3 format id3v2 tags.. after that mixvibes can work with the tags no problem.

There are no .mp3.XXXX files in my directories.

Yeah, i want to write the tags out so i can add the key (with rapid evolution) to the comments, reimport to mixvibes and display the key there.
Problem is - if mixvibes refuses to write the genre out to id3, i cannot let rapid evolution add the key and reimport to mixvibes because i would loose all my precious genre information i entered ;).

How exactly does this tag conversion you spoke of work?

Thanks :P

Hi nebuk,

I use Rapid Evo for all my tag editing, the only thing i let Mixvibes do is determine BPM and write the info to the tags, Rapid Evo is very versatile when it comes to batch editing tag information which greatly helps speed the process up, lol. I think the best course of action here would be to start again and redo your genre tags, i too rely heavily on the genre and album tags, when there done there done... that’s the way i look at it, and Rapid Evo as i said does make very light work of it.

I will be writing a full tutorial on Rapid Evolution and Mixvibes, i can hurry this up if you think you would benefit from it when it comes to sorting your collection tags out.

For now, have a read through this post about converting the tags to JID3 for import to mixvibes..

Heyya, that Topic contained the Breakthrough. Disable ID3v1 Support in the mixvibes options, let mixvibes write all the Information, import them to RE - all the genres are there!

Now write with JID3 and everything works as expected. Cool!

Thanks a bunch!
