Hi,
I'm a MV user for about 2 years now, but i'm new on the forum! I bought a new laptop 2 weeks ago (a quite strong one) but the songs keep on crackling very often. I read the topics about that, tried all the settings and I guess the problem is I don't let the songs load into RAM....BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH OPTION IN THE MENU!!! Am I did something wrong during the install? Or Am I using the wrong skin? Pls help!
thx

What version are you talking about? Is it the 7.1? Can you post a config report?

crackling can come from a lot of different issues. please give us more information :

Win Xp Pro SP2
Core 2 Duo 2Ghz
250 GB HDD, 2Gb Ram
ASIO U46MKII soundcard
I've tried all combinations with all versions from 6.394 to 7.1, also with the soundcard drivers (from 1.028 to 1.039) the crackling always appeared after a bit, so that's why i desperately want to try saving the files into ram, but as I said, there's no such option i can check....

your report seems fine. are you running an anti-virus or firewall ? did you check on all your background processes ?
regarding the RAM loading. In the general manu you can define the maximum length of a track that should be loaded in the RAM. 99% of tracks are less then 10 mins and will be loaded in the RAM after being analyzed. this porcess can be sped up by pre-analyzing the mediabase.
