MVmapper help

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there was a tutorial or a help-file that will tell me how to map my keyboard. There are some things that I would like to do on my keyboard while spinning my decks. It's probably easiest to use MVmapper.exe or is it easier to use the keyboard-tab in the options-window? But the MVmapper.exe-box is a bit hard to understand and on the other hand, I'm not that good at "programming".

Maybe somebody already knows the answer?

-I would like to use the arrows on my keyboard to go to a song (that works(!)) and then press a button to either send it to the left player (player 1/A) or the right (player 2/B)

-I would like to hold my platter/vinyl at a particular place in the song, press a button (or a combination, like ctrl-1/2/3/4) and that it will generate a cue-point. Then later I would like to press 1/2/3/4 to go automatically to that cuepoint.

-I would also like to know whether there is a function (and an assignable key) to the next problem. Let's say you have a song playing on your right-hand deck and the next song you want to play is a song that you would like to mix in using a very difficult scratch-move that u can only do using your right hand, so you want the song to load in the right deck and have the song that is already playing in the right deck to move to the other, left deck. For example, it would be nice to have a button that duplicates the song that you're playing to the other deck so you can move your crossfader on your own mixer to the left and you can now load the new song in the right deck and do the mad scratch you wanted.

I hope this is understandable... :eek:

Maybe it is helpfull to have a look at this next DJ, who does a nice radioshow online. Every week he makes a small vid of it and puts it online. If you look closely, you can see how he uses his keyboard to do some things, especially duplicating a track in the other player, then give it a small hold on the platter so it's just bit behind the (it's own) beat and juggle around. He's using Serato though...)
Go to this link, have a look at the video called "ML75.NL Weekmix 20/09 DJ TLM (Hi-Hater)". For example, at 1:30 he pushes a button that automatically duplicates his track to the next player at the exact same point in the song so there both running exactly the same. After that he does a short juggle. Have a look at his other weekmixes too, they're nice so listen to and look at.

Thanks a milli in advance for the replies!!!

EDIT: Mind you, I'm still working with version 6 'cause I can't update yet, don't know if the new MVmapper is different ?

Nobody knows the answer? Do people actually use the keyboard along with the vinyl? If you look at the video you can see how well it can/should work...

Hi DJ dodger,

- One of your solution is to upgrade to version 7 because there is a new feature: the 'MIDI and Keyboard learning'.That is an easy way to map your keyboard as you want. You don't need anymore the mvmapper.

- You can also copy/paste the code below in MixVibes 7 (load track, set cue but not your last point...):
- you have to copy/paste a .vkb file already present in your MixVibes keyboard directory (C:\Program Files\MixVibesDVS7\Keyboard)
- open it and delete all the text
- copy/paste the code below
- save it and choose this keyboard in MixVibes [Preferences > Options > Keyboard]

Code: Select all
//ACTIVIEW: Active the MediaBase window: button v
V       ACTIVEVIEW   1

//LOAD: Load the current song in a channel: buttons A & B
//            Active channel
A      LOAD      1      0   NOUP
B      LOAD      2      0   NOUP

// Press it to set it and then press it again to go the cue point
//CUESET: Set Cue points: buttons 1, 2, 3...
//
49      HOTCUE1      1      1
//
50      HOTCUE2      1      1
//
51      HOTCUE3      1      1
//
52      HOTCUE4      1      1
//
53      HOTCUE5      1      1
//
54      HOTCUE1      2      1
//
55      HOTCUE2      2      1
//
56      HOTCUE3      2      1
//
57      HOTCUE4      2      1
//
48      HOTCUE5      2      1

Hi djegun,

Thanks for the advice. I will try it and see if it will work out. Only problem is that I'm still using version 6 and I don't know if it will work?! Since I moved to another place last month I can't find my install CD, so no license-serial in my Control Panel since the Forum has been renewed. (Currently blaming my girlfriend since she trew out a lot of her old CD's and CDRoms... :rolleyes: )

For the last problem, I found out that DjTechTools did a topic on instant deck-duplication within Traktor Scratch, because a guy brought it to their attention and they implemented it. So maybe for this part I will have to move it to the Suggestions-part of the forum...

I like to see a sitiuation where we can use two bottens to navigate in the cue points e.g. Lets say you save cue 1 to 10 in a song and you don't need ten bottens to navigate through the cue points so you e.g. Botten 1&2 for deck1 and 6&7 for deck2,press cue/stop to cue a song on deck1 botten 2 to advance in the cue points 1-10 and botten 1 to back from cue point 10-1 and same aplicable to deck2 and botten 5 to reset pitch to +-0 for deck1 and botten 0 to reset pitch on deck2. Right now setting cue and memorizing on next loading is not functioning unless you click on hotcue point with mouse and even though you memorize by mousrpe clicking when you press on stop/cue botten on the keyboard it gets out of the already cued point, so it is not functional and i want the to be looke in to. And bottens on the keyboard are not used atall and why is it so?thanks

Yeah, well, sorry to say "don't expect too much". Because of these issues and a serial number issue (couldn't update to DVS 7)I went on to Torq, which does all the cuepoints and more...
