never heard of that, although it's plausible from a scientific angle.

Nah it's no big deal, think of it as basically an auto-correction thing that MV does.

Hello,

I would like to add something to this thread, after doing some testing:

Phase inversion is NOT left and right crossed over, and you cannot "fix" phase inversion by reconnecting your cables the other way around.

Phase inversion is one or both channels (left and right) being crossed over on their positive and negative connections, but what does this mean? Let's look at just one channel, like LEFT for example: by having negative and positive crossed over, your speaker will be pulling air instead of the intended pushing air. This means the timecode gets to mixvibes with the wave inverted, so it detects it and corrects it. But, without mixvibes, you should not hear much of a difference unless you have only one channel inverted, in that case, as soon as the electric signal gets converted to "air waves" on the speakers, they will be sending crossed air waves and altering the music.

This should help to visualize it: http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php?s= ... stcount=14

My bad for not going down to the bottom of this. After checking witht he developpers, there is more to phase inversion than what i thought.

Phase inversion is linked to needles and also sometimes sound cards like the U46Mk2. MixVibes attempts to detect if there is a phase inversion. its not always entirely accurate and manually changing your pahse inversion can in some case improve the TC decoding. This is vert rare, but worth knowing for those of you who are having TC issues or want to test the software in depth.

The rule is (99% of cases) Orthofon => no phase inversion, shure => phase inversion.

On the U46 there is a phase inversion between input 1 and input 2 (betas me to understand why). this implies that its normal that mixvibes etects a a phase inversion on one of your inputs although you are using 2 identical needles.
