[MIDI] AutoLoopSelect

Postby John Wo_O on 10 Oct 2010, 00:33

ok so if i assign a pad of my lpd8 to that function, it increments the value of the AutoLoop. How do I decrement it? because once it reaches 16, it's stuck.

if i assign a knob, it's not usable: values are skipped, the cursor moves too fast.

I love mixing with Cross but the MIDI learning still frustrates me!

ok I'm going to reply to myself with a little reflection...

the UI shows a + and a - surrounding the different lengths for auto loops so is there a way to access these functions via MIDI? I see these functions exist in the program so it bugs me that I can't assign them via MIDI (or i haven't found out how to do it yet)

MV team, your input would be greatly appreciated

Inc/dec : a value of 1 will increase and a value of -1 will decrease.
What does your command send : note or cc ?

I'm not sure :s

it's a pad, set as an on/off button. is it the equivalent of note? (i'm asking because I can set all pads to CC mode but in my current configuration it's not the case...)

omg i feel so noob

Ok, you're pad shouldn't be on/off, it should be a trigger.

When you want to increment or decrement, you're sending +1 +1 +1 or -1 -1 -1 like an impulse.

You want it to be on when you press
and off on release.

Actually I guess you have set it to :
press : on state
press again : off state

this is why it doesn't work. This will only work to trigger the loop mode on/off not sending values.

I believe you're entirely right.

so i need one pad to send +1 message, set to trigger
and another one to send -1 message, set to trigger as well

I'll take a look tonight after work

it's almost all good except that here is what happens:
pad down -> sends message (-1/+1 depending on the pad)
pad up -> sends same message

so it sends it twice??? (after a brief test... i'm back at fooling with it a bit)

This is not an issue : hold the pad while mapping to only act on the pad down message.

I had a feeling it was not an issue but I just couldn't figure the workaround (which kinda makes sense actually)
I think this is the kind of trick that people (esp. noobz like me) will need help with.

anyway, I'll try that tonight and report.

thanks mr. support ;)

You should use the "Inc./Dec. Button" preset when mapping you pad in Cross.
