Hi, my Toshiba Satellite A60-202 leave me yesterday, so i'm searching a new one. I have 300€ (=400$) and I need a Core 2 duo 2ghz. I found a Dell D630, Core 2 Duo 2.1 ghz (perfect for me ) 1gb of ram, with a warranty until 2011, for 350$ (400 with shipping) but it's in US =/ Or this, but less interesting. So i'm still searching, and i ask you, have you any tips, advice and amazing website for a cheap computer?

Salut bigi forget the dell as there is a whole topic full of dell notebooks that seem to be not compatible with music software. Just my opinion The other one has a little less RAM and a small HDD, although all my music would fit to this one . If you are asking me I would save a bit more money and buy a really good one with that you can mix the next 5 years. Greetings, Steve

I dont belive this is limited to just dell laptops

check out ASUS laptops... They have a great reputation... maybe on cdiscount.com
I know it's easier said then done, but you should def aim the 450e budget and get 2+ gigs of RAM minimum. 4 being ideal.

Other laptops are affected as well, but the Dells are notrious for the DPC latency issues. That said, there seems to be at least one dell out there that should be fine. The Dell Studio 1558. That one seems to have low DPC according to notebookcheck.com. And just to be clear Dell Studio 1558Not to sure about the other ones... and it's based on the Arrandale platform I believe.

Thanks for all your advices, my final choice is a Toshiba Satellite A300 1OT (the HP seller stop responding , i don't know why) 2x2ghz, 3Go RAM, etc. Nice I'm currently using Jolicloud wich is a linux-based OS designed for Web applications, and i'd say that i'm really happy with it. I'll re-install XP and all my soft, reajust the skins for my screen (1280x800) and i'll upload all here soon (and i'll need you to test my vst synth, if you're interested contact me)
