RECORDING MY VOICE

Postby dvg on 11 Dec 2008, 11:31

Hi to everybody,

I am very new in the MIXVIBES SYSTEM and need some help.
I have purchased and installed the MIXVIBES U46 MK2 sound card and tried to make my first recording using the playback of a song and the microphone for making some coments during playback of the song.
When i played back the created (recorder) music file i noticed that my voice hadn't been recorded. Only the song was recorder.
The microphone is in operation and the signal is going well through the sound card to speakers.
(All the connections i have made is :
1. USB from Laptop to U 46
2.microphone in it's juck
3.red and white cables to external speakers.

Is there any setting i have missed ?

Thanking in advance

Hi dvg and welcome to the forums!

Do you have the switch on the front of the U46 switched to mic? If not, try that, and if that doesn't work, press the vinyl bypass button and it should work fine.

Thanks for advises.
1.The mic switch was in it's position
2.The vinyl by pass button is not getting activated. It doesn't light !
I still have the problem.I will try to download the newest version and try again.
Thanks anyway.

what kind of mic are you using ? static or dynamic ? the static studio mic needs a phantom power pre amplification. It's the +48 dB swich by the mix input.

make sure you are using a balanced jack in the input of the U46 with your static mic or the phantom power won't work

what software are you suing for the mix recording ? mixvibes ?

Thanks for participating to my problem.
1.I am using a Dynamic mic (SONTRONICS STC-80).
2.The software i am using trying to record the mix is the
MixVibes DVS 7.(I have purchased the MIXVIBES DVS PACK MK2).

3. The funny thing is that i can hear my voice together with the playback songs in the headphones through the U46 MK2 sound card, but when i start recording , only the song is getting recorded and not the voice. I don't know if ihave to make any extra connections to my laptop or make any other settings.
For the time being , the only connection of the card with the laptop is the USB cable. Is this right ?

Thanks

i think the MIC is going through the soundcard but is not activated in a MixVibes input... you can hear the sound but it can't be recorded by MV.

You need to drag and drop your MIC input into a player of MixVibes. the inputs of your sound card are listed in the root of the MixVibes explorer window

Thanks polocorp,
Your advice to drug and draw the input into one of the players allowed me to make some voice recording. I think there more things to learn and unfortunatelly the manual on DVS is too poor.
If i will have more problems i'' ll ask again for help.
Thanks again

I can find the same message with the same author in 2007. Packages need serious doc, users need serious doc, reseller need serious doc...
Why in your answer
"big improvment on that in the next months"
It needed to be done a long time ago. Making a full doc of DVS isn't a question of years or months but a priority decision.
And of course this doc must be translated at least in french, german & spanish... & more.
Why you don't do it now when it's warm?

Patience Uncle, we're doing our level best to deliver good support in the mean time... I hope we get the time to focus on the manuals again soon.
