[SOLVED]Got a simple question about recording

Postby djcrank on 12 Oct 2008, 15:28

hey guys ive noticed that mixvibes has the option that you can record or rip vinyl from first or second turntable....im wondering is it possible to record for example a mixtape with using mixvibes. The thing is if it is possible that MV will be recornding from both tables at the same time. Thanks a lot

here we go again...

to record your set in mixvibes you need a sound card that has 6 in-puts and 6 outputs

4 in-puts & 4 out-puts for you turntables
2 in-puts to record to ...

1...you plug a set of RCA cables from your mixers rec out-put to you free in-puts on the sound card ( in-puts 5 & 6 )

2...open a third deck in mixvibes.

3...drag and drop the audio in-puts ( in-puts 5 & 6 ) from the mixvibes explorer window to the third deck in mixvibes.

4....click the play button.

5...open the main volume rack...set the record volume & click the record button in the main volume rack when you are ready to do your mix set.

6...choose a location and make/name a file to record your mix set to.....when you record the mix's it will be recorded as a WAV file

go to your options in Mixvibes & define 3 decks.

You can use also an another soundcard but you need an extra recording/editor software as audacy (freeware) running in the same time.

you don't have a third deck because you are using DVS7, not Producer

in that case you can open a second session of mixvibes and record through a player of that session. check out this tutorial :

You have 3 decks in DVS check the options Paulocorp! But you need an Asio soundcard with at least 6 inputs to record from your mixer output. (4 for DVS & 2 for recording this tip can't work with U46 with only 4 inputs)

my bad. thanks for the heads up Uncle ;)

i haven't used DVS in a while. Indeed, unclevibes is right, there are 3 players in DVS (only 2 work with decks).

the second session trick is only necessary if you wish to record with 2 different sound interfaces

May I wish to see this function more documented & easier to understand & control. A real edit wave, not a colored control of incoming db is needed to be sure we do a quality recording without any buzz from nowhere, it happens easely when you record from a mixer. The choice of codec to choose the quality of compression is also important & of course an edition screen to trim the file.

sounds like a good improvement. Not sure when we can implement it. in the mean time you can also use a free third party software such as goldwave to record, edit, trim, compress, normalize your mix :D
