Cross crashes on Startup [Solved]

Postby rhopkins on 15 Apr 2011, 22:53

Ok guys, I need your help.

After this thread Cross crashes on startup. All it says is "Cross has stopped working". Checking the Event Viewer I see only:

Faulting application name: Cross.exe, version: 1.5.2.0, time stamp: 0x4d74ea4d
Faulting module name: Cross.exe, version: 1.5.2.0, time stamp: 0x4d74ea4d
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0022a6f6
Faulting process id: 0x98c
Faulting application start time: 0x01cbfbae6a59abe0
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\MixVibes\Cross 1.5.2\Cross.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\MixVibes\Cross 1.5.2\Cross.exe
Report Id: ac18b3f2-67a1-11e0-afc8-0013d3ec000c

Looking up this fault code seems to suggest it is some kind of Access Violation. No real idea what that means.

I've uninstalled all U46 drivers and Cross software, restarted, re-installed and this has not resolved the problem.

Anyone have any ideas, or am I looking at a complete Windows 7 re-install?

I fixed this by deleting the Cross folder in Application Data in the Users folder.

Problem is I've lost all my collection and playlists. Where are these stored?

Hey,

to my knowledge the mediabase and so on is saved under User/%Useraccount Name%/AppData/Roaming/MixVibes

Exactly, unless you save peak files and mediabase to other folders.

I was wise enough to take a backup of that folder before removing it so I've managed to piece together my old playlists and collection.

Crisis over. Although I have no idea which cleanup program caused this problem. Hopefully this might help someone if they run a maintenance program and this then happens. I guess it must've been some registry entry that was was determined to not be needed when it in fact was.

Hey,

A little advice for the next time when using programs like CCleaner or other Programs to clear and manipulate the registry.

When using CCLeaner it ask you If you want to safe the old registry. There everytime say yes! When something is going wrong like that, that Cross would not work you can run the old reg and everything should work like before.

When the program give you not the chance then start the regedit.exe and there go under "Data -> export" and save it on a disc you want.
If then the problem occures you can start it again and import the old one.
