Computer 'juttering' and quiet headphones

Postby sam_54 on 10 Mar 2011, 16:03

Hi there,

Just purchased Mixvibes DVS Ultimate, and am having two major concerns:

- My computer every now and then freezes momentarily, freezing the software and juttering the main output. Looks like a latency issue, but I can find NO way to adjust this. (I have no problems with this whatsoever using Traktor or Ableton Live)

- Headphone monitors are very quiet, alright for home use but in a performing situation would not be able to hear a thing. This is when the monitor dial is on full whack.

Could someone please help out? I spent a small fortune getting all the gear to use mixvibes, and it's letting me down so far! Kind regards,

Sam

Hey,

what OS version do you use and what type (e.g. Win 7 64bit) and have you installed the newest driver for your U-Mix44?

some more Information about your setup could be helpful, Thanks

regards
Christian

You need to optimize your computer for real time audio.
Playing tracks into Ableton is not the same as analyzing timecode in real time and warp audio to follow.

You cancheck this with dpc latency checker : http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Can you describe your setup ? Because I don't understand how you're trying to use the U-Mix44.

Check that you have max your outputs into Windows

and also into DVS (view / main volume)

Thank you so much for the swift reply - I've actually solved both problems! I just increased the buffer level in the ASIO settings. Not the same as latency settings I think..?

I used the latency checker, which was pretty helpful, but do I then permanently disable badly behaved drivers?

I downloaded the U-Mix44 driver, and followed the install setup (instead of installing manually, as per the website) and there was no sign of DVS recognising that I had installed the new driver. It all works, but is it advisable to 'perfectly' hook up DVS to the drivers? Or will it have done it automatically?!

Yes it's the same.

Update them if you can.

The software have an auto-configuration that will recognize and handle the U-Mix44 drivers.

Ok that's working fine, but I was running only one turntable, now I've got 2, I only get track A or B depending on whichever is 1-left and 2-right.. I can hear the second track in my headphones, but when I fade it over.. nothing. Tried install setup many times, with all options but no luck :(

Any advice?

Also, the sound output is out of sync with the on-screen cues (the peaks that move when you swing the vinyl back and forth), and the 'beat' changes place on the vinyl with every move (especially bad for scratching) - can I make this more accurate?

SO sorry to overwork you guys - you've been fantastic so far!

Best,

Sam

-STOP PRESS-

{SOLVED!}

Right, I had to mess around with it loads. I just disabled/enabled U-Mix44 drivers, painfully reinstalled and played with it loads.

I won't hold my breath, but for now it seems ok..
