Hey,

which mouse do you use? is it a mouse with leds and so on? and do you use the u46 with a external power or not?

When the mouse takes too much power of the USB host the U46 could not start. Mybee a powered USB Hub or a external power for the U46 could help also.

regards
Christian

I use several optical mouses, all made by Logitech.
My laptop should be able to power each usb port (3) with 0,5 amps, so i guess that there should be enough power for both soundcard and mouse.
The strange thing is that when i use a usb powered external harddisk the soundcard keeps working.

Hey

0,5A for all usb port from one host. So it could be a one host controller for all 3 ports. Than the problem is there. Most Laptops has 2 hosts so one or more usb slots are seperated with a new host.

The USB specification is that a host can only send 0,5A maximal output for all connected usb products.

A external selfpowered USB harddrive has its own power so it needs only a minimal power of the host controller. But a mouse can take up to 250mA for working.

I don't know exactly currenty how much the U46 take but it is not small^^. So there could be the problem. You can get a message or not this is controlled by the host usb controller and the driver which is installed.

So when you have a usb extention with power supply test this with the system. If it works there is the problem.

It's a hardware issue not a W7 issue.

A soundcard will typically draw power as a MIDI controller with a lot of leds/lights.
So using an ac adapter for some devices might help things...
