Cross 1.4 loads sloooowly

Postby John Wo_O on 06 Oct 2010, 17:17

I noticed that since I have installed Cross 1.4, it takes almost 1 minute to load the interface and/or the collections or whatever else.

It used to be quasi-instant with Cross 1.3.2 (that I have not uninstalled yet btw)

anyone noticed that odd behavior?

I wish I was :P I know it's odd and that's why I thought I'd report although I'm clueless regarding what it can be.

I use a dedicated PC (Dell d630)
C2D @ 2Ghz
2Gb Ram
WinXP

sound card is plugged in indeed (Rme RPM via Cardbus).

I've been using it from the beginning so no, I didn't change between 2 launches.

let me make it clear that I can live with that, it's just odd that I have time to go grab beer and bretzels between the moment I run the program and the moment I can actually do something.

On windows (only) there have been some changes that may slow down Cross startup a bit but not something like 1 minute !!!

We'll check by our side to know if such a slow startup can be due to these changes ....

Cheers,

We have tested and we went from 3 seconds to nearly 6 seconds with a C2D 1.6Ghz/Windows 7 and 4000 medias in the collection.

How many medias do you have ? internal or external drive ?

i use internal drive (a 320Gb @ 5400rpm I believe)

for the media, I don't think there is more than 1,500 tracks with the 4 collections I have.

I remember reading that the serial had to be entered again with 1.4 (right?) but it never prompted me for it.

In fact, if you had no serial issues, you don't need to re-enter it while launching 1.4.0.
However, after having launched 1.4.0, you must re-enter it in 1.3.2 if you want to use it again.
