i think you have a prior posting ,not 100 % shure but you licences key allows for down load of updates
the olny expericence i have is with downloading home 6 cd back in2004/5, didnt have any issues then and also downloaded same to new computer in 2007/8.
not clear what issues you are having with the startup , but the more info avaible will help us out to give you possible senerios for success,
info as to what make /model comp, what operating system its set up with, what sound card ,audio interface you are useing,,what you have going on in the background etc,
i think that the updates overlay/rewrite the original program to rectify any problems/bugs found in the software.
