I agree to DJ Vintage. Even with current option it occasionally happens that I hit my External Display pad (or rather something drops on it).
The result is a black screen when no vid is loaded.
If you have a simple home setup it may be pretty simple, but when your external monitor is direct linked to the vid system it may take a little more to notice and avoid searching in the wrong places (power, vid cables...).
The other problem may be that if you're using a different program at that moment for vid output (powerpoint/youtube/..) of the moment is replaced by a black screen. And then you have the issue that during the Cross start up you don't have access to all the Cross controls for a short while.
