Does Cross have to rely on the "Bonjour" service?

Postby Technoengineer on 29 Sep 2012, 15:15

I found that the Bonjour service requires a number of networking services to be running on the machine.

Would it be possible to use Cross in a mode where it can operate without the Bonjour service?

Think its part of the internals components of iTunes, so I'm thinking it has to be present when using Cross with iTunes; you can try and experiment and disable it in running tasks if you like

You can disable Bonjour Service. I have done it too with no problem.

Its for network applications like home sharing in tunes. Don't think you should delete it though, but you can just stop it running in the background processes.

Doesn't this service also check for Cross version updates?

Just be careful if you delete Bonjour, i have a couple of other software products that also use bonjour, without bonjour the whole Programme would not open and has to be reinstalled so as to have bonjour installed again,If you have novation automap for one that relys on bonjour and their are many others, so if you do find another programme fails after deleting bonjour, then their is your problem, i went through this a few when i thought bonjour was bloatware and i was at first unaware from where bonjour had come from.

I do not use video at present so in my experience I only refer to mixing audio
