Easy Collection to Folder Structure Converter

Postby ChrisDeChef on 28 Aug 2012, 23:17

Hey guys,
I really would appreciate a function, to move all files in my collection into a self choosen folder structure. Here's an example:

I find 20 new great songs, download them and have them collected in a folder. Now I need to integrate these files into my folder structure (atm it's Year\Month, better would be Genre\Year\Month) and then move them into the collection of Cross and tag them again.

Much easier and more helpfull would be, move them directly into the collection, tag them and then click one button, choose the folder structure I prefer and start the procedure, which moves the files to the right place. That would help me a lot and seems to be integratable into Cross easily.

Could also be an external tool, which can read the collection-database format and does this kind of moving-stuff.

Best regards
chris

Hey guys,
got an update for everyone.

After needing this feature, I started programming it myself.

It works like this:
The database of Cross is an sqlite-Database, which I can read out by a PHP-Script running on XAMPP on my local machine.
After importing all my tracks into Cross and tagging them, I close Cross and start my Script. It reads all entry's inside the database and can copy every file to a custom folder-structure. For example generated by the genre / artist values (C:\My Music\GENRE\ARTIST\filename.mp3).
After doing that, it changes the path of the file in the database to the new location and deletes the old file.

Voila - u got a really easy but effective Cross Collection to Simple Folder Structure Converter.

If your interested, leave me a message.

Regards
chris
