My wishes and Ideals for Cross DJ
Posted: 14 Mar 2012, 22:13
Loving how Cross works the on the fly looping system is awsom, but i can not take it series until i have a four deck version, 2 decks are just a waste of the effort for a pro mixer, masher.just leaves me unsatified with the possibilities of of what i could do after testing the 2 deck version, but cant.
I cant explain a feeling, but Cross DJ feels wright, everything is just so impulsive, first DJ software to me that feels more natural, you dont have to think too much or struggle with a confused Gui either, and i can not see why a four deck option would clutter becuase of how the Cross DJ gui is at present, its clean and tidy I love it, but no Future for me with only 2 decks, but i want it!!!, i need to be able to switch between the four, looping back and too etc, unlike other DJ software systems i know Cross will work fluidly with four decks, like i say looping is awsom.
And a single sample That records say a up to a 32bar loop from the master with relooping capability the same as the current deck looping just to give me extra spice , i dont need lots of sample Players.
But a good idea for the future: for a extra preformance factor a single button controled pop up drum machine type sampler add on that could be bought or added in as a module, so you could Tweek and save drum and sample sets and reload them with a simple operation on the fly
My Ultimate setup based on Cross DJ
Want 1: four decks
want 2: a single 32bar master recorder sampler relooper.
want 3: pop up add on drum sampler module , so as not to clutter the interface with sample sections, MIDI controllable maybe just the patch/bank loader showing in the Cross gui with MIDI control for changing threw your sample/drum patches, i think you know what iam getting at, you dont have to see what you are doing unless you wish or for setting up drum/sample sets, its all about on the fly flexability without clogging up visuals or having anything that can not be instantly accessed, (Just to also add in what i missed out_as long as you can set up your sample volumes before hand via the module and save it as a set then their is no need for individual volumes controls per sample, only the sound set change and triggers) although a good idea maybe to have a single Bi directional filter To control the whole sample set output instead of master volume just to allow for the blending in and bringing out off the sound)personaly i would be useing such a sampler for sound fx and hits as suppose to drums .
Ps: some thoughts,
i am a bit of a controllarist, but i am not happy with all the other DJ software out their after much testing, but i think Cross is on to something with its design and layout, and actual workability on the fly, it feels real yet its acurate without the worry.
Virtual DJ, feels like a toy and is very clumsey all round, serato aint all that and is starting to over complicate simple actions with inacurate looping fucntion (With the Novation twitch good Idea, but not quite a practicle as it would first apear and serato itch fx suck in a major way. Traktor beat gridding is more trouble than its worth and gui is plain wastful and ill thought out, workings i feel its not inpiring its just their becuase it was first lol. Deckadance had promise, but just aint improving area's or going anywere, Torq is Really nice, but m-audio seem reluctant to make this open enough for other controllers so it falls flat.
Cross May just be a underated winner, if its well tought out in the future, as it is so far, iam greedy for feature as i like to push the limit, but i want it all implemented in the manor Cross has so far, i can see it without being overkill, or confusing.
Thanks for listening to me , I went over to ableton live for what i could do, but it just does not feel natural or like a DJ app, so i lost my way with this other DJ software their after using ableton live, and now i wait for the magic to return, so exuse my now desperate passion, i have wasted 6 years not being able to realise what i was once capable off, blame it on the future, it just does not move quick enough for this ageing human lol.
