there or some tweaks. just a small update on my part
i find my self liking pear os
and elementary os more as there easyer to get around with a better inerface .
for elementary os next update there going to have Automatic driver detection this would be great for us djs . it will be called elementary os Isis :D .
hope to see the same with pear os 8 or 9 .
as far as inerface goes hands down its pear os 8 for me .

im big on the mac os but dont want to shell out  crap tons of
cash for the hardware they have .spec by spec the PC for the same price is going to be faster .it just needs a better os to run it on then windows.
dont get me wrong i love windows 8 . i use it to play games on it all the time .but ever time u install something it makes windows feel about slower after abit even on a ssd .

thats why linux would be great to DJ with as it does not slow down .
(side note if u have a scratch open sound card/final scratch sound card it would still work and always will work.)

what i have learned this pass few weeks from realy getting in to linux is that it seems to me pear os and elementary os or much more user freandly as
u dont have to do as many tweaks as others i have used.
i have used so many i lost count to find the 2 i would use daly .

note pear os 8 is in beta 2 and will be out soon

I believe that if something happens to Cross linux-wise, it has to be Ubuntu. I has the most and best support, it's stable and the most used as well, just common sense. Plus it's one of the few linux distros that came here to stay, Shuttleworth has invested some real money for his vision and he's not gonna let it slip.

yes. Vanilla Ubuntu already has many branches (even LInux Mint) so if something is made for Ubuntu it matches 50 other Linux distributions at the same time.

But if you have the program running native on linux will you not need drivers for all your gear to be remade for linux aswell?

Yes you need to tune your Linux to your gears.

True. Most popular audio interfaces already work on linux (u46dj included), and and all class compliant controllers work as well. For the rest just have faith in the community.

Bitwig - that made the brave move first - already supports a fair amount of controllers, and they provide a javascript api for mapping the rest, if i am not mistaken.

It's been 9 months since the beta release and it has become pretty quiet. Last update from 6 months ago was that they had to fix some compatibility issues.

Any official word if and when we can expect any news or a DVS beta?
I really hope this is not getting silently abandoned like the initial Linux Version back in 2008
